If my opinion counts, I vote in favor of a replacement logo for the resurrected and restored JP.
~Jim

Thanks Jim, I appreciate that.
Did I mention that I wanted to buy one from the company without the JP signature? lol
I'd still like to buy one without the signature...I'd rather have the real deal from the company than have to make my own anyway.

OK We gave you fair warning before you started and now you are asking again...Im really happy that you have this project and am sure you will do a good job and would not misrepresent it if you sold it...but will the next seller have your integrity.....

Lets stop the rallying and arguing....Its a call that we made earlier and it really shouldnt be a surprise that it is the same call....

Enjoy the guitar!

Ouch!

Naturally it wasn't my intention to piss ANYONE off, but apparently I'm good at that. Tell ya what...I'm done posting chit chat except for this last post. All business from now on. Fair?

But just to make sure I was understood properly, when I said;
so I figured provided I don't alter the logo or try to pass the guitar off as something it's truly not, there would be no harm.
I meant I didn't figure there would be any harm in making my own, or getting one made. Naturally, my thought WAS; it's the EBMM logo on an EBMM guitar...my mistake I guess.

Thanks for your time anyway.

Why don't you just paint over the logo and have John sign a bigger signature where the logo was in silver pen and then lacquer over that? That would be totally cool.

Jim we are all passionate here and for the most part swell people....I have to swing the chill hammer sometimes...we cannot allow ourselves to get this worked up over things like this guitar and one ebay transaction and who gets to decide what my late fathers name ends up on.....

Take that energy and send some vibes to Colin or TOmmy and Janice who have been on pins and needle with Tommy Jr. who could use the help.

So I promised body work, and body work I am delivering.

Today it was time to draw out the holes, get em routed and filled. I spent a little while searching for something that was the right size and perfectly circular to draw the outline on the body. Strangely enough, it ended up being a pink highlighter cap. It worked out perfectly.

Unfortunately, we didn't have any drill bits in the house big enough (5/8)so I had my dad grab his router again.

Once close to the lines, it was time to sand the rest of the way with the aid of a smaller dowel...didn't want to take off TOO much meat, ya know.

Since it's practically impossible to get a perfect circle, it's not a PERFECT fit, but it's a SNUG fit, which is what this situation calls for.

Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of the true gluing process, as the glue dries fast, and my fingers were kind of covered in it.

But, what I did was clean up the holes real well and made sure the dowels were nice and clean. I put a good coat of glue on the inside of the holes, and on the outside of the dowel. Twisted them in with some force (don't want to crack the wood)with my finger on the inside of the pocket to feel when it was flush with the inside and then cleaned up the excess glue.

Now it needs to sit for at least 24 hours, and I'll go back to work on it.

You probably won't believe me, but I actually thought of that after the final 'no' on the logo thing. When you posted that I was pleasantly surprised, especially given the amount of approval from the rest of the forum. Great minds think alike I suppose :)

Enough talk Morbid... Where's that mockup you promised????:D I wanna see it!
Well...hmm...here's a preview ;)
