I would say that if nobody wanted used MM guitars, nobody would probably want new ones. So there is an indirect benefit to MM by having their guitars valued on the used market. The more people playing MM the better, regardless of how they (legally) acquired them.

Also, to me it seems like buying a guitar just to prop up a specific company is not what it's all about. Finding the right guitar for you, new or used, is the deal.

As for which sounds better? I have to agree that there is no reason an Axis has to sound different than an EVH. Although, as EVH's age, there should be more and more of a difference between NEW Axis' and EVH's. My EVH is 14 years old now. I would have to think there is some difference between it and an Axis fresh off the line.

I do notice a feel difference between the two and always have. That's not to say one is better. It's just to say that you could easily prefer one over the other because of the subtle feel differences.

^^^ Don't get me wrong, I do agree with what you're saying. Just that some people will seek out an EVH because they think that an Axis is somehow different (read, inferior)...

And that's cool- those guitars still generate good awareness of the MM brand. How many people on this forum discovered MM because of the EVH? Same will be true for a new crop of uneducated players ;)

Start with the guitar you want- and then learn about the MM brand, quality, people behind the product, other killer products, etc.

This is good. I'm trying to avoid the inevitability of this thread, I suppose.

...But what don't I have?

I wasn't rolling my eyes at that. I'm willing to walk away from this. I'll call a truce if you will.
