$150??? I think you're dreaming. Unless you just have some local guy do it. And parts of that guitar are so scratched/gashed, that I don't think you could sand it out. You'd either have to fill it or paint over the scratches which looks cheesy IMO.

I guess it just depends on what you're expecting the final product to look like.

Honestly, if it is structurally fine and a guy could find a replacement neck pickup, it could just be a perfect player with lots of character.

I still wouldn't pay much more that $800 for it though.

the more i think about it, you are right...$800 is a little much for a VERY ABUSED EVH! if all the hardware was there, maybe?

finding the replacement parts could be a B***H!

I have no issue with it being bashed out, as long as the original user gigged it rather than abusing it.

Not sure about that neck pickup though. I love the Axis/EVH neck pickup!

If this guy played it every day for hours, toured the world, played live a lot and did all the rehearsals corresponding with these activities, I'll cut him some slack. That serves to add character to the abuse the guitar has taken.

But if he's a weekend wanker and just doesn't know how to take care of a guitar, then we need to form a posse and hunt him down!

I don't like the idea of having the random tuning knob on the D. That looks pretty sh!t. And agreed with the Humbucker. He should've just bought something else inastead of ripping the EVH apart. Although I am not a hardcore EVH/Axis fan, that's a harsh site.

! ! !

Hey guys,

What's that Oh scratch ! Uh ding ! thing ?
I sometimes feel like I'm on the guitar collectors board not the players.
Some of you buff the guitar after every use, keep it in case and take it out late at night only to perform some strange sexual acts on them :D .
That's what I call abuse !
It's a guitar, and it should be played not buffed !
I'm not saying that cleaning, keeping it safe and so on is not a good thing but:

I say that a guitar older than a year with no scratch and ding was very seriously abused !

As I have said many times, my guitars are for playing, not collecting. They all get used and gigged, and get dinged, dented and scratched as a result.

I would never deliberately abuse one, but I would not baby it. Its my tool, my workmans wrench! A guitars like these NEED to be gigged and played! That said, they do all get polished when the strings are changed.

FWIW: Don't know if folks are referring to my post or not. But I'll say again; if playing that guitar put it in that condition, so be it. For better or for worse, it's got character.

But if storing it in his garage without a case put it in that condition, shame on him.

I see a difference. Nothing wrong with playing them. But there's nothing wrong with taking care of them either.

Absolutely !

The guitar lying in the basement with the shovels and axes is even sadder story than a guitar serving as a decorative piece of furniture.
