I never string up my floyds that way.... I don't have techs and the ability to change strings at every single gig. So, if I break a string, I have enough wrapped around the post to just unravel, and reclamp. LOL I get get from broken string to retuned in about 60 seconds, sometimes less. LOL

If I break a string at the tuning post end or at the nut clamp, I'm outta luck, but 99% of all string breakages happen at the bridge on a Floyd.

Me too,
Although there are some brands of string where the 3 wound strings have a long section of unwound core sticking out at the opposite end to the ball ends which doesn't really work too well for this application.
The problem with this is that it's the wound strings that I'm most eager to avoid cutting as I've had the odd instance of the string unravelling at the point where I've snipped it.

I've strung them both ways. All this Floyd talk is basically irrelevant for me now though. I have no intention of ever having another one ever again.
