What's your favorite bass tuner and why? I have a rack mounted Korg DTR-2 that I've had for a few years and I've just never been happy with it. I doesn't ever "settle in" on the pitch. I've been thinking I might go with a Boss pedal, but I would like to get some other folks opinions before I make the change.

Sabine RT-1600. Available cheap on eBay, works fine and has lots of pretty colored lights that look cool in the rack.

+1 on the Boss TU-2....solid as a tank and reads the low "B" like a champ. Also doubles as a power supply for other pedals down the line.

Anybody try...

the Peterson StroboStomp pedal? I have a VS1 and it is the best I've seen. On a gig I just use the Intellitouch PT1. But nobody else can tune while I do. I know the Peterson is alot of money, but so is the TU-2, and I don't think it's worth it.

Yeah, I've heard lots of good stuff about the StroboStomps. Been thinking about getting one myself, but the seller is out of stock at the moment (Steve Barr @ DudePit).

Korg GA-30. Hand held unit. Cost like 25 bucks. I just never could get exicited about droping alot of dough on a tuner.

I use a Petersen VS-II at home and for set ups, and I use a Boss TU-15 at gigs.

The TU-15 is great with the backlight, and I velcro it to the top of my Mesa Walkabout so it doesn't go anywhere.

Yeah--I needed another excuse to post this pic. :D

I can't even imagine trying to set up intonation without the Petersen at this point, but it's a bit bulky (not to mention pricey) for taking to gigs. I opted against the Strobostomp since I am not a big fan of stomp boxes, and I didn't need another DI, so why pay for one?

The Boss TU-2 is worth every penny of the $90 it'll set you back. The Strobostomp is a whopping $189.

Now THAT is what I call not worth it.

I use a Sabine 7000. It's very accurate too!

Includes strobe tuning and everything!

thats not the tuner's fault, thats your bass. the korg's are ultimately accurate, thats why they move if ur guitar isnt absolutly perfect in tune. this is hard to get without the buzz feiten nut or earvana nut. if it only moves 1-2 cents after a half note. its fine. your in tune. those other tuners that dont move around don't have the sensitivity of korg tuners. its a false insurance compared to a true disappointment....

I actually own a Strobostomp. It was worth the $189. You can use it for setting intonation as well as tuning in general. Plus, it's an active Direct Box. It also has DC in and out for daisy chaining power. It's got an awesome backit display that is easy to read in any lighting (without running over to a rack).

Also, my tuner can beat up your tuner. :D

P.S. I also have a Digitech RP-2000 and a Digitech GNX2, both of which have a built-in tuner that is also pretty decent. Maybe not great for intonation, but neither are any of the Boss or Korg models... IMHO. ;)

I use a Boss TU-2. Haven't tried other decent tuners, (I've had a Qwik Tune tuner when I began to play bass, but that thing quite sucks compared to the TU-2) but I'm happy with it. It does well.
