Favorite strings on your MM bass?

just wondering whether DAddario XL's (45...100) are any good on the MM Sub 4-stringer... has any tried 'em?
 
I have D'Addario EXL160's on my Sterling. There a little bigger (.050, .070, .085, .105) but the tone is just wonderful. On a recent thread someone posted a link with a string comparison chart. D'Addario's seemed to have the best balance for bass, mids and treble and the comment was that they were crisp and punchy. I'll second that. I've been curious about EB's strings but my D'Addario's sound so good I just don't want to take them off.

Rotosound 66s are probably my least favorite string in the world - they're just too raw for me.

The Slinkys that Stingrays come from the factory with are pretty good, and using them as the reference string I've gone from Slinkys to:

1) Dean Markley Blue Steel - much warmer with better lows and mids and milder highs than Slinkys. One of my favorite strings on any bass. I don't like overly bright strings.

2) LaBella Deep Talkin Bass flatwounds - relatively bright for flats. Very good fundamental with normal mids and mild highs. Very smooth to the touch. Try these if you want more thump from your 'Ray.

3) DR High Beams - I just put a set on two weeks ago. So far they seem similar to the Deans, but with slightly better lows, less pronounced mids and similar highs. This is the impression I get from them so far. I have Elixir Nanos on my fretless Ibanez and imagine that they'd sound pretty god on a 'Ray.

Stingrays have aggressive mids and highs by nature, this is why I like to use dark sounding strings on my 'Ray to balance out the tone.

Might start with D'Addario Chromes tho...as I like em on my acoustic...
 
Strings N Things

Stingray5 (rosewood, fretted): DR Hi-Beams
Stingray 4 (pau ferro, fretless): TI Jazz Flats
Stingray 4 (maple, fretted): EB Super Slinkys

I can't stand nickel strings on rosewood fretboards but love em on maple.
 
has anyone used both la bella and TI flats, and have any comparisons?

The LaBellas are higher tension. They are also just a bit more....thuddy. I like them quite a bit, and they're a nice change from the TIs, which I use on just about everything except a Bongo 4 and a Custom Shop Jazz. Both of those have the LaBella Deep Talking Flats.
 
I like the Super Slinkies that came with my Bongo very muchly. And now that they're basically "dead," I really like 'em! :D I've tried TI Jazz Flats and liked them, too, but they don't give me that "Tic-Tac" sound I sometimes want. :p I'm thinking about giving some DR Hi-Beams a go, though.
