Just wanted to say hi. I finally acquired a StingRay5 after lusting after one for over 10 years. I saw one in pretty good shape pop up locally on eBay, so I pulled the trigger.
S/N is E22693, which I gather from Gav's index is from around May of 01. It has the Burnt Apple finish (quite nicer than the eBay pics, I must say) and a rosewood fretboard and matching headstock. The pickgaurd is black, but I'm probably going black pearl with that eventually.
Boy, I should have bought one of these sooner. It sounds absolutely gorgeous. I'm playing through a Bellari tube compressor (their basic two-knobber) into my late-60's Ampeg B-15N with 350B output tubes from the 50's (the absolute world class of 6L6 types), and NOS military RCA preamp tubes.
The seller says that EB told him there were only about 100 of those built that year, but I could give a rat's arse about rarity. The thing just smokes my old G&L. And that's saying something...
Anyway, I came here looking for a quick answer on the selector switch, which I found using the search, and figured I'd say Hi.
