So I'm what celebrities would refer to as in a transitional period right now, I'm heading off to rehab and patiently waiting my HH AL in LPB. and reflecting

I was out in the garden last night and day dreaming thinking about all the guitars I bought over all the years, including many non EBMM's I remember when I first started playing having a desire to get guitars with what I now know to be a quilted maple top (At the time I just called it a wavey finish!)

I remember Rob posting that solid colours were cool, and they are - blue guitars are even cooler - and Dargie Greens have got a cool vibe but something 'special' about a figured top - and I love quilts..

Anyway, with EBMM offering so many options and the chioce of getting a quilt or flame you would think that it'd be easy and I'd have them on every wall - I just have to chuckle at the irony that the only 2 guitars I have in my collection have figured tops and they're flame tops instead of quilts

But here's why......

I officially delcare that Flames (especially on EBMM guitars) ROCK!

All beauties! And Smelly - if you're going to have only 2 guitars, I think you've got the right 2! Awesome.

Those flames are freakin wicked! I always wanted a flamed out guitar myself...hopefully one of these days a Y2D in Tobacco Burst :D. HOWEVER, it is quite hard to beat a nice quilt...therefore I must do the following:

Hee hee nice one Stratty

- I drove for 9 hours to go see that one and bought it straight away. Turned around and drove another 5 before finding a B & B to crash out.

I love it - as I love all my balls. I'd recommend an EVH hardtail to anyone as I think that they will be really collectible in the not too distant future.

EDIT
The beauty is that when you see it at another angle it has stripes going the other way too. I'll shaddup now!!

Very nice Smelly.

Those are some sweet guitars. EBMM must have some of the nicest woods to choose from. We are all very lucky that we get to own them.

Beautiful tops all.I think everyone has there preference of flame or quilt, but sometimes I think one looks better on certain guitars than the other, Personally I prefer quilt over flame though very weird I own more flame tops than quilts. The hottest JP BFRs I have seen for some reason are flamed, as I think a flame just looks better on that guitar. Just like I think those EVHs or Axis with those pool like quilt tops suite that guitar better.

Jeff that top is just off the charts, and looks like one of those cool pictures of the surface of the sun and just made me contradict what I just said.lol I know you dont have that guitar anymore and can actually feel your pain.

Always said I liked flametops better (and probably still do) but the quilt on my Luke had me at "Hello..."

I guess it depends on the guitar and/or color and honestly I have hardly ever seen a flametop that I didn't like...wide flames, tight flames...they're all great.
With quilt, it depends on the individual top whether I like it better.
