I completely agree that a wake up call was very needed.

I don't know if the forum software allows....or it this is an idea worth considering.....

I'm a moderator on a large single car marque site and we have about 20 moderators total. Each of us has a small number of sections where we work. People definately get more out of line there than here and as a mod, I'm able to issue infraction warnings, points, put people in time out and outright ban them.

Ok...so what I'm offering is to moderate the F/S section. I would be limited to only this and all I would do is delete any threads that are the crap that we don't want in there and if desired, do the other stuff as described above.

I don't want to clog the mods PM boxes so if this is something desired, pm or email me and I'll point you to the forum where I'm moderating now.

I'm on here everyday anyways...so might as well be useful.

I love the thread, give us foreigner a chance to own used but fantastic balls at good price.

But I recently noticed a lot of newbies join for the sake of discarding their items here. I dont feel good buying from these new members with a "motive". Good move to stop this for the time being, Poppa.

Which could be addressed with a sub-forum, because that could be set up to only allow members with a certain number of posts or after a certain amount of membership time to start threads...

we're aware of & have/will discuss possibilities. but in the end it's BP's house and even I have to play by his rules.

keep in mind Chewie manages the support of ALL the IT needs for Ernie Ball Music Man as a company & BP runs the company. It's an international company with a ton going on from new guitars & basses to artist relations to strings & straps and other accessories. They have A LOT on their minds. It's pretty great that with all that going on that they still devote this much time to this forum's experience

+1 - I'd volunteer for that too.
As a Limey I could look after it when the US is asleep and Vicky Versa

I could never understand why people are selling off all those great guitars in there? Gives me gas though to look through it.

Hell, sometimes it was even interesting and entertaining to see who was "PM'ing and possibly buying another guitar....

quoted for truth.

If scrolling thru a few extra "garbage" posts is the biggest problem I have all day, that's been a great day, haha!

why not just add a new 4th catagorie on the forum front page called:

CLASSIFIED FOR SALE/WANTED EBMM STUFF ONLY!!

that way we could put ALL the cool EBMM regifts into 1 area. Basses, 6 strings, strings, accesories, vintage etc.... To me, it seems rather a good solution. This also keeps things from being so segregated (6 stringers / 4 strngers). I'm not just bitching, I have offered a solution. Then, you will be like most other forums and BP will be pulling his hair out less.

Thats a good idea, but at the same time, its not gonna stop anyone from doing the same stuff over and over again and cluttering up the FS thread with useless replies. I think the FS thread should just stay closed. People had their chance to stop doing the same stuff over and over again.

who cares if people make comments at that juncture. Most other forums (I'm talking just about all), the average FS thread gets some comments. Some 3-4. Some 25+ And the cooler the piece, the more replys. Its just human nature; or cyber nature. The current EBMM format has no way to succeed. Either change it or close it.

I vote change it. Keep the EBMM only prerequisite. What can it hurt to try? Obviously this form is not acceptable.

wow....simple compare this forum to each one and lets not forget the things you get here that you dont get elsewhere.

there is no comparison with other forums as far as im concerned.the freedom given here is 2nd to none so i think people should accept the rules or move on.

As my dad once told me 'He who pays the piper calls the tune';)

The For Sale Thread isn't broken and doesn't need a "new solution" or makeover.

Why don't we all just chill and let this time out be just that, a time out.

Simple as that.

'Nuff said.

Good point. It reminds me of the Golden Rule, "He who makes the gold makes the rules."

I still feel that it's BP's website, it's his bandwidth, and it's his to do with as he pleases. Heck, he could shut the forum down if he wanted to.

Maybe enforcing a ban (albeit brief) on those who abuse it would do the trick??
