Congrats yourself on the Carbon Blue Pearl which is another great color. I would love to get some up close and personal pics of that axe for the gallery, so if you ever take some be sure to send them over! Sapphire Black is another beautiful blue color they have, and you can see the contrast between it and Envy Green in a few pics in the gallery.

No problem, Rush. I actually just checked out the Carbon Blue pics in your gallery...very nice. I'm even more excited about my guitar after having seen those pics. I was actually going to PM you to see if you would like some more Carbon Blue pics for your gallery. I will definately snap some pics when I get it. I will post some here and send some pics to you for your gallery, as well. :)

Rush, out of curiosity, did the guitar go back to EBMM after the paint problem again? If so, the turn out was good I assume?

I spoke with EB about it and they offered to redo it again. I thought it over and decided the smidgeon of black in the corner wasn't worth the effort. As long as there are no stress cracks or paint peels I'm happy. :)

But still selling it?

I'd sell it too, to pay for that Blue Dawn JP :D

I love the Silver, but would have traded it for an equal or better in Autumn Redburst or Gremlin Green. I've seen a few Blue Dawns go by on eBay, but the one I scored was the best so far.

I've got a nice limited/loaded JPET 7, an '83 Tele top loader, a red label '70 yamaha acoustic and now the loaded blue dawn. I'll be adding a baby taylor at some point in the near future and I'll be done. I can't see having anymore guitars than that!

The ebjpm gallery I put together satisfies my GAS for other Petrucci guitars pretty well. Why have 20 cased up in the closet when you can just pull them up on the web and drool?! :D

On a different note, somebody should really buy that Gremlin Green Albert Lee. They still never sent me photos of it. Reminds me of something somebody might pull out and abuse at CBGBs. I could see it fitting into some kinda punk outfit pretty well and it had killer tones through a blues junior. ;)

Blasphemy! ;)

I want about 10 more guitars - just to get those sounds only that one model can get. My next one will have to be an EBMM with single coils - I miss the "Strat" style sound. My JP6 just doesn't get that sound (of course because it wasn't designed to) Any Single coil suggestions? (I don't care for the Al look, so I'm thinking Silo SSS.

The Silo HSH gives 3 single coil sounds on its 5 way
H
SS
S
SS

Or if you are a freak like me you could always put coil tap switche(s) on the humbuckers to split the coils any way you want.

DISCLAIMER: MORE BLASPHEMY BELOW!!!

If you want that Strat tone, I think you really need to use a Strat. Believe me, I've tried many other ways to get it, there really is no substitute. For that "Strat" sound, you gotta have a Strat. IMHO.

I hate to say this, but I agree. I love EBMM guitars to bits, but my Silo Special still lacks that certain something when I want a classic strat tone. It makes up for that in other areas big time, but my guitar tech put it best years ago when I was still into pointy guitars and wanted Les Paul and strat sounds from one guitar. He told me that all hybrids give is an approximation of a strat or les paul sound - EBMM are no exception - they have their own sound and are much more versatile for live use than either of the brands I just mentioned, but if you want that Stevie Ray Vaughan sound etc, only a strat will do. Sorry for the alleged blasphemy, but I've always said on this forum, I refuse to commit exclusively to one brand- sorry

The look really grows on you - believe me ;)

All I can say is play the AL without the pre-conceived "look" issue. It feels and plays fantastic - lightweight, well balanced and MM neck plus you get a great sound of the three singles with a little extra spank from the bridge pup.

Then you can get the sounds you want (actually better than the sounds you want) and not just be another guy with a strat :p

Try it - you'll like it :D

I have said this before...The Albert Lee sounds like a Strat wishes it could.

Not better, but different...They both sound awesome, but the single coils have that Strat/Tele vibe, but way better IMO.

Hey Jon,

Can you elaborate on this more? I've asked people to describe the difference in sound between a MM-90 and Single Coil AL. Never got a definitive answer. If anybody can enlighten me, I'm sure you can.

Thanks!

I find that the MM90s have a lot more bite - think Pete Townsend Live at Leeds...
