hey thats cool, EJ is using a new Fender for a change! i wondered if he would use his new sig model on stage
I'm not sure if that is his signature guitar though? The one pictured has a string tree and his sig model doesn't come with one. At least Luke, JP and Steve use what we can buy in the stores. EJ still seems to favor the vintage models most of the time.

good eye Col!!! didnt pick the string tree. it is an old strat i guess, but looks kinda new, dont think ive ever seen him play a black/maple strat before. maybe he was playing a clapton song and wanted some mojo!
have you seen the new EC custom shop model? I think it will cost you $24,000 for one. how many MM's would that get us?

what a load of crap, check this out, the countdown to the Blackie rip off

http://www.fender.com/blackie/

If they are making an exact replica of how Blackie is now, then the thing should be pretty much unplayable as I seem to remember that Clapton retired it as it was worn out!:D

PS Back on topic - Shame the top pic is so fuzzy. Any better ones out there?

MK II (Mark 2) is the moniker that roburado and I are currently using for the next generation JP (the one he is using in the pic). We previously had dubbed the JP/20th Silo hybrid, the "Sitrucci" - yes, i admit i'm partially to blame for that - but although the Sitrucci and the new prototype share some characteristics, the new proto is a completely different animal. The Sitrucci name doesn't really fit... hence the JP Mk II.

Last night we were trying to come up with other possible names as BP has stated that, assuming this new proto becomes an offered model, that the "old" JP will be offered too. In keeping with the race car analogy that BP used in a previous thread while referring to this proto we came up with:

JP, Type R (in a nod to the tricked out coupes from Japan)

and

M - JP (in a nod to M series BMW's)

Anyway, it's just something to do when not playing our guitars. :)

P.S. I just thought of something... in a nod to JP's favorite amp, we could call the new guitar - JP Mk II C+ :D (though i suppose the Mesa people might have something to say about that)

Did I miss something? Is Vai not on G3?

And I have to admit, the JPII is looking gooder and more gooderer all the time.

On a marginally related side-note, does anyone know why the "new" Morse is called the Y2d? Knowing that might give us some ideas or insight of what the uber-Petrucci might be called.

The best I've come up with is the Y2 as something to do with it being 20 years from the first Morse. Maybe the d means the fourth prototype became the final?

By extension, the Petrucci might be Y1a/Y1b\Y1c. . . . :p

Personally, I like the IIc+ idea! ;)

2 decades = 20 years.
