I love how he has the Mega size bottle of Advil there on the table. I guess even for guys like JP the studio can be a bit of a headache!

here is a picture of john´s setup in the studio:

I have to agree with someone's statement about the new lower horn, pickups rings and the heel scoop. I read what BP said about the pickup rings it being easier to adjust the pickups understandable but I have always thought they made a guitar look cheap. I don't like the smaller lower horn either it makes the neck look smaller and the guitar just doesn't look symetrical with it. I have grown to love the scoop hopefully they will keep that as well. The new neck binding is very cool though!

What are you doing? back to the reactor. You dont have to buy it. You dont have to look at it and you dont have to give John the credit for getting to choose the tools that enable him to be the best he can be. To dredge up this is really stupid.

Folks

After my DD JP arrives, this is the next guitar on my shopping list.

After all of the silliness that got the original thread on this guitar locked, I am really hoping that we can all be sensible and not make discussion around this guitar so contentious that even more threads get locked.

Can we all please play by the rules so that we don't turn this into- 'The Guitar That Cannot Be Discussed On The Forum' as I feel it is in danger of becoming.

BP

I intend to buy one of these next year and would appreciate any news or pictures being posted here as they become available.

I hope that these do not have to be placed in a locked thread but would be grateful even if that is the road that you have to go down.

Thanks:D

Last time I checked it we had freedom of speech right? I'm just stating my opnion. This is a thread to get comments on the prototype.I'm just saying I like it better the old way is all no biggie relax Big Pops. I just bought another from ya RRJP7. I am a Health Physics Tech BP. Basically I get to boss people around all day.LOL. I was in deed working the reactor head repair job.

With respect Brett- there is no freedom of speech here. It's a *private* corporate forum operated my MM and so you have to be respectful of Sterling's wishes. Also, these threads weren't meant to get feedback on the prototype. Rather, we're getting a glimpse of John's new guitar and the story behind it's evolution. MM doesn't have to show us this stuff ... but they do because we're all such rabid fans :)

Well then I apologize BP. I didn't mean to offend your products or you personally. I have a tendancy to be very blunt as you know from past postings.lol I did just buy EBMM #3 yesterday. A Radiance Red JP7 fully loaded.

Brett whilst you were dealing with hazardous stuf we had one of the worst threads in history from me showing the proto. It almost ran me away from this place.

THe thread here was photos of john playing not what brett thinks. My only hint is before judging it play it......

thanks for buying the stuff and try to keep an open mind and a more open check book!

Well your goin to get a backlash when you change anything people have grown to love.Maybe it will grow on me. I didn't like the ones I have now but they grew on me and now I wouldn't play anything else.I like the body style now the way it is. It's beautiful with the countoured edges and everything.

JP has said this very thing about DT's music. Everytime they go in a different direction (i.e., with every release), they piss some people off. People always have expectations of what they want DT's new album to be like. Then, the album comes out, and they're disappointed. Interesting thing, that it's happening with JP's guitar too.

I have never been disappointed by any Dream Theater album.

I think they should have done the same contours as on the upper horn on the new extended lower horn to keep things looking even....maybe they have? I don't know,

If the lower horn sides are square edged as they come up onto the top of the body and the upper horn walls are still contoured/bevelled then might this look odd?

I am still ordering as this is just minor details and after all its not my guitar....I think its great and the F-1 title rocks!

Edit: Just read the last page....still a positive post though!
