He had more tone in his fingers than most of us could dream of.

Probably the guitarist I most tried to emulate when I started playing.

Very sad loss.

I'm so bummed out by this news man. Awesome, awesome player, huge influence. I was gonna go see him in May here in the Netherlands too. He's out in the eternal fields now. RIP Gary, go jam with Jimi and the rest of the guys!

His album Wild Frontier was a big part of my life with I was 16 years old. He played some great tunes and I have great memories of those days thank to his music. Thank you Gary, RIP.

Same here, Over The Hills and Far Away is one of my favourite tracks and the tone from those giant fingers of his was just HUGE. A fantastic player, wow - I'm truly choked.

Folks - Guitarist magazine will put a great issue together in memory of him.......be very sad to read though.

RIP

Wow! That's too bad. Those of you that only know him from his blues work, need to hear him in his shredding days. "Corridors of Power" has some of the cleanest, fastest fingerwork on vinyl. The guy could shred AND he had a very good singing voice. Unfortunately a lot of the stuff from that era is out of print and hard to find (even to download). If you can find it, get it.

I even preferred Gary the Shredder, the guy was an absolute monster.

For the guys that were at the Strat Anni gig: I can only imagine what it was like when he just killed playing Red House!

Check out "G-Force" from 1980 (I think) too.

What a shock. I just heard the news and my heart sank...still can't quite believe it. What a sad and terrible loss, Gary Moore was such a huge influence and a true master.

Here's Gary playing and jamming with friends at an East Sussex village festival with local guitarist Ray Russell, who ironically started his pro career with The John Barry Seven (John died earlier this week), Mo Foster , bass (Jeff Beck, Clapton), Ralph Salmins on drums (BBC, Robbie Williams etc). He came and played for no charge raising money for breast cancer.
