I use the longer String Swings cause I like to have mine off the wall a ways - they can swing a bit, like if they got bumped into and still not hit the wall - to mount I used 3.5" steel screws into wall studs.

Not anything like strummer's picture above, but it will work for me! Thanks to all the input everyone, the stringswings seem to be doing their job well so far. Put them right into the studs of this aging apartment...
