Hey guys and gals,

Steve Morse/Dregs fan here, just joined and signed up for the open house. I don't own an EBMM, but I'd like to try a Morse model someday. Hopefully I'll see you guys in SLO town next month,... and around here.

This looks like a good place for a newb to jump in and shed his lurker status. I am a DD/SMB fan who was fortunate enough to be at the Ernie Ball All-Stars show the night John Petrucci’s model was unveiled. What an onslaught of musical excellence that was! Morse, Petrucci, Lukathar and Albert Lee on the same stage, not to mention BP trading licks with Dave LaRue. Now he’s is bringing it to his backyard. Plus a tour? Somebody stop me!

Guess I better get this over with. I don’t own any Music Man instruments, (although EB’s have strung my guitars for 35 years), but I hope to own a Steve Morse model someday. Currently playing…’78 Les Paul

Thank you for opening your doors and letting us see where the big guns get their firepower. I’d make the drive just to see the factory.

welcome You were at the coach House? That was a fun gig. i dont know about me trading licks with La Rue, I just tried to hold my own.

It is too bad Albert Cant make it something about Bill Wyman...
 
I was there for the first show with my boys who were probably 10 and 12 at the time. My eyes were opened that night. Namely, to Luke and JP. My friend tells a story of John’s reverence to Steve during the second show.

I am lucky enough to be within 2 to 3 hours of four of Steve’s regular So Cal venues. That puts my “driving to see the factory” comment in perspective. The blessings of logistics!

I wondered about AL. I didn’t see him on the confirmation list.

Seems to me, I remember Dave giving you your space. I said trading, not matching. ;)

Yes I was blessed to be at the second show, and what a show it was. I'm hoping for round two at the open house. After the All-Stars were playing in pairs, they did the Grand finale with everyone on stage. When the solo section comes around each guy is topping the next with intensity until JP pulls out the solo that was impossible to top and in an inceredible gesture he lays his guitar at Steve's feet as he finished.

Big Pappa is beaming up on stage and says," I'll put my guys against any other guitar company's guys any time."

This brings up the question: what other company could even consider the challenge?
 
I've heard this story before but I was driving 'em home while JP was bringing it home. The humility and respect.

To be the best yet not fail to recognize it

Thanks, it's good to be here. I've been lurking for about a month, some pretty cool people here so far.

Booked my hotel today (Motel 6), and in the process of looking at flights. See you guys next month.

alright, I'll take my lumps since I'm the new kid on the block, just don't gang up on me all at once. I'll try to attach a pic, hope it works.

My first guitar was an Aria Pro II. It was alot like a strat with humbuckers, I don't have it anymore (did you know Petrucci played an Aria Pro II in his teens with Majesty). I still have an Ibanez 540S (Sabre), a Mexi-Strat, and a Les Paul '57 reissue Goldtop. The Ibanez was my first "nice" guitar (so I thought at the time), it's got a real thin neck and body, a floyd rose, and sounds like crap. I'll never get a Floyd ever again, takes way too long to change strings and tune up.

The Strat I got pretty cheap. It's a real Fender, but made in Mexico. I got it because the neck and frets felt so good, nice and smooth. Put a Duncan Hot Rails in the bridge position to fatten things up, sounds pretty good, alot better than the Ibanez.

I've always loved Les Pauls, but I had to wait 'til I could afford one. Got this one almost 2 years ago. IMHO, it's the 2nd best sounding guitar I've ever tried. I didn't like the stock Gibson '57 Classic in the bridge, so I put a Duncan Custom 5 in there. The Les Paul has its pros and cons...the neck on this model is pretty darn fat, the frets are huge, it's heavy, expensive, and not the most comfortable guitar in the world,......but Oh, the tone! I really wanted a '59 reissue flametop, but too much $$$, and mine sounds just as good if not better than most of the ones I tried.

I went into Guitar Center (an EB distributor) once and asked if they had a Morse. The guy said no, and it was a special order and had to be paid in full in advance.

Ok, I've got my helmet and padding on, go easy on me.
