Hello, New to the forum. First post so I'd like to introduce myself. Currently own three EBMM Axis guitars. Two are tributes. Absolutely love all three though. Always looking to add to my collection.

Here's my situation: Recently had to replace the bridge pickup with a Dimarzio DP155. I installed/wired the pickup with no issues. Once I restrung the guitar, tuned-up and played for a minute, I noticed the high E and B Strings would hit the pickup when playing above the 10th fret. I realize the pickup is sitting too high. So my question is should I take a dremel to the pickup cavity on the side where the pickup is hitting the strings? Seems to be a quick/easy fix. To those of you with much more experience, what am I missing??

Thanks for any help!

Modify the legs on the pickup and not the guitar. It leaves you the most flexibility of you want to put the stock pickup back in or want something different down the road. What happened to the OG pickup that you had to replace it? If you still have it you can always contact EBMM and the will sell you a new one if you have the OG to send back as a replacement.

Don't modify the guitar pickup cavity. You may want to either choose a new pickup or send it to dimarzio and ask them to put the pickup on a different base plate that is lower profile.

I had the same issue trying to install an older seymour duncan into my EVH a long, long time ago. The pickup base plate "legs" were too long. The only option without irreparably modifying the guitar was to get a different base plate by sending it to SD.

In the end I'm glad I never installed it or modified my EVH.

Thanks for the responses and advice Gents. The original pickup was destroyed. I'll try to summarize the long story: Wife was standing on a chair while wearing slippers adjusting some wall hangings. She slipped, the chair flew and hit the pickup on the Axis shattering it and breaking 4 of 6 strings. Trip to the ER for stitches for a major laceration to her elbow after falling through a glass picture frame and some ointment for her embarrassment. She feels terrible about the guitar. Thanks again for the help guys!

How terrible! Hope your wife is ok.

Yeah- as Tim said, you can buy a replacement from MM if you can supply them with the broken one. Might be your best bet.

Thanks again guys. And thanks for the recovery wishes for the wife. She's making a slow steady recovery. I'll try contacting EBMM for a replacement. I still have the "crushed" pickup.
