So I took the day off today (funeral to attend this afternoon :( ) and therefore had chance to spend an hour (or was it more?) playing as soon as it was in my sticky grasp. What do I think? Fantastic! It really does bite and with some valve/tube pre-amp on the Ashdown it's really raunchy. Amazing for slap though, something about that E string, has an incredible bouncy punch to it. The active electronics are phenomenal.

Love it!! :D:D:D

So BP, I have a Big Poppa bass of all things and I do know now why you like it so much - this is likely to be my main live bass without a doubt. Thanks for building such fine instruments, cheers to everyone at SLO and thanks to all the guys at Strings and Things and Nick at Soundsplus - I'm a very happy camper!

Now, about that Bongo 5 and 6 ...

Woah!

That is AWESOME! Man, I really want one of those.

And yeah the active electronics are incredible aren't they, the deep subsonic lows, the crisp and beautiful highs - oh man I love Bongos. I love that feeling of such excitement when you hear that knock on the door and then the process of revealing the beauty.

I see a Bongo 4H in my very near future (hint hint)

Good score, Daddy-o. You are a TRUE Bongoloid!

Nice!! Wait to you see how nice the B is on the fivers. You'll be completely hooked then. (My next Bongo will be a single H too)

Yes, they're like Stingray's just lot's more so :D

I think a 5er is next, to be honest, I have played a few but didn't go there because I already have the Ray 5. I'm chewing over this inside a bit because I can't afford another bass for a while but I have been wondering about swapping the Ray 5 for a Bongo5. It's sort of heresy for me because I only buy basses, never sell them :D I'd be tempted to go for an H again though.

I have written a few songs that need a 5 so I need to keep one in the arsenal somewhere. I was sitting here thinking about a Bongo 5 Dargie II with an ebony fretless neck just now....

The punch on the Bongo is amazing, playing through the Pandora's and headphones at the London show did not do it justice - through the Ashdown it's just incredible.

I can't wait for our band practice on Sunday :D:D:D

I love the single H, it was what hooked me at the London show. On the Bongo it's got this really gritty grindy tone, the other Bongoloids have tried to describe it compared to the tin pup models but you have to hear it to "get" it. It's a great "rock" sound. I don't feel I've lost anything with this bass going for the single H rather than HH or HS *

* I reserve the right to contradict this statement in future when I get my next GAS attacks
