yes Bonnie Rait is a very good player.... good choice

I always wished she would have replaced Lowell George in Little Feat when he died.
Still Lowell must have passed onto her the "dark side " of slide guitar playing ha!

Dude, Crush of Love is his worst song ever! :p

Without Flying in a Blue Dream, I wouldn't be here... (and by that I mean this forum, I don't mean that I'd be dead -- just to clarify that point....!)

Yeah - I'd have a tough time arguing that! :D But before that, I had never even heard of a rock guitar instrumental. It just kind of opened my eyes, er.....ears, to a whole new world. That night I went to the music store and bought Surfing with the Alien. Was that ever a night!

At this moment -

Jimmy Page, John Petrucci, Vinnie Moore, Michael Hedges, Stanley Jordan.

Honorable Mention for Bass: Jaco Pastorius

Ask me next week and it'll be Page, Petrucci, Hedges and two other greats - tastes change.

His voicings and "musical-ness" are just amazing and resonate with me...like Adrian Legg.

BTW - I loved watching G3 and seeing him with that big ol hollowbody and those goofy 1975-style headphones squeezed in between Vai and Satch...such a contrast.

No one listed Hendrix and Malmsteen...interesting.

I'm actually going to see Yngwie tonight! There will probably only be about 200 people there, too. The place is pretty cool, because it's a small venue but gets big names. More personal.

I'd have to say mine are:

Yngwie Malmsteen
Vinnie Moore
Paul Gilbert
Jason Becker
Tony Macalpine

Sorry, I only put "Jimi" in mine. Didn't think I needed a last name.

I'm going to see him at BB Kings in NYC. Tell me how it goes!

I notice lots of animosity towards YM these days ... but I still think he's the most listenable neo guy out there (I'm not including George Lynch in that catagory).

You know what? I saw Yngwie on the G3 tour in Minneapolis and he stole the show. He is great at what he does and I think unfairly takes a lot of criticism for things he's not responsible for. I mean, I'm not a huge fan but I think he's pretty amazing to watch live, even with all the goofy kicks and theatrics!
