Is it just me, or is the market flooded with EBMM guitars for sale? On Ebay alone there are over 400 EBMM guitars for sale right now..........It seems to have doubled in the last 1-2 months.

The market as a whole for all brands is flooded, killer deals on new ones compounded by a still piss poor economy and second hand buyers wanting rock bottom leads to a slow second hand market.

I think it's just our search for the perfect tone. Sell, buy, sell!

I watch GC used section all the time specifically for Al HH's. Couldn't even find one for under $1500 a year ago. There are a few that are close to $1000 now. Lower end guitars seem to be slightly going up. I think a good portion of people with a guitar in their closet that they haven't touched in 10 years may be drying up.

yep, i'm getting ready to buy a used "other brand" guitar for $225.....and it's a nice guitar. it's silly what is available out there right now. it seems people hurting for $ start dumping stuff right before x-mas too.

I keep looking...

But after i got my Mint Green Silo Special I've not really had any desire to have anything else. I really love this guitar and would pick up another one and put humbuckers in it if i could... LOL

Thanks for the heads up! The prices will shoot up as soon as I'm in the market for one. It never fails.

I'm on the GC used site all the time looking for EBMM. It seems like most prices are cutting about $100-$300 lower depending on their condition and overall value. I'm after an SSS silo.

It could be a sign that there are simply more EBMM guitars out there, more of a market penetration I'd say.

I've found recently that there are actually less of the rare guitars, people seem to be hanging on to them. A lot of the EBMM's I've seen on the bay are the same listings over and over from the stores, so perhaps that shows the stores aren't selling as much (which would of course apply to all guitars).

I've found GC's used stuff to be a good deal. It's really hit and miss though since the place is a meat market, just a revolving door, and they don't put much attention to the stuff they sell. The good thing about it is if you don't like the guitar, you can send it back (I just take it back locally). I have gotten two really good deals on EBMM's in the last 30 days (I'll get to the NGD post one day soon).

The used guitar market is broken, as someone who's bought and sold guitars for over 20 years, I am struggling to turn ANYTHING around right now.

There is no money, there is no appetite for premium high end instruments and I suspect it'll stay that way until at least April. Bartering works to a certain extent but the US is the only one with a decent platform to do so (and you have to be prepared to take non guitar items as trades) - the best we can do is buy new and wait for the Zombie invasion!

be patient..

I let go of two BFR's and a JP7 last year, at prices that still makes my head even spin. The market sucks, I know all about it. I've made up my mind that I no longer am letting any more EBMM go out the door, unless it's for another that suits my style or serves a purpose. Other stuff sure, but the balls stay because I always get the crap end of all deals, whether it's in trade or by sale. In today's market, everyone wants something for nothing. In my case, my kids dentist bill or whatever is more important, and from surviving from going under, we have to make these kinds of sacrifices.

As for the used market, just hang tight. Other people who are in situations like I have been in before will come around.

You can make alot of money off gc used if you know what to look for. I just recently made 500 buying a guitar from a store, playing it for a little over a minth, then trading it into the store closer to me ;) I do this alllllll the time with them lol
