Have you gotten in touch with every source where this punk could off load the guitar. I guess the only thing here is if he stole it for his own self. Again I know the feeling, I went walking up and down the street hoping to find clues when I got robbed. Let's bring back the good ol' Old Testament days, and cut off their right hands when they get caught!

Man, sorry to hear that. I can't imagine what you're feeling about that. I'd be ready to commit murder.

Odd tip here, but it has worked for alot of people I know.

Talk to all the cab companies/busses in the area. Explain what's up, and ask about trips to pawn shops/used places with a guitar. Cab drivers seem to know everything that goes on in a city.

I know a few guys in different cities where this has led them right to where their gear was. The worst case, is when the thief is keeping it for themselves. Thankfully, they usually only want to get a couple hundred bucks for it, fast.

Good luck.

maybe you will get a good call also.

Yeah BP I know how it feels to lose a car too!
Had one stolen from right outside my house - it was written off.
Police caught them in a 'copter chase.

I hope the police in the US catch the scum who robbed the lad of the guitar.

That bites, Norm.

If you have a pic of the guitar (or one that looks a lot like it) make up posters and put them in every music & pawn shop w/in 30 miles of your friend's house. Thom's EBMM SM model got ripped off out of a locked truck once along with some other stuff. I made up fliers with a picture + the serial # etc. offering a reward and long months later it surfaced in a music store (very near the parking lot it was stolen from). Some dude had gotten it from a guy who owed him money and he was going to unload it for the cash. One of our flyers was in the store but the guy also knew Thom and called him. They made a deal and he got the guitar back. It still had the same strings on it. The case was gone (his name had been stenciled on it) but at least he got his baby back.

...sounds like Beth needed a ride back home. ;)

I'm sure that NorMie's going to be pounding the pavement on this issue, and these are some great ideas to follow up with, esp. koog's shrimp fork technique (though I was still thinking more old school, Pulp Fiction like...you know, "call a couple of hard, pipe-hittin' n***as, who'll go to work on the holmes here with a pair of pliers and a blow torch.") :D

NorM, if there's anything that I can do to help out, definitely let me know. I'm only an hour and a half away...

NorM, that sux, sorry to hear what happened. I know I'll keep my eye's open.

Are there any pawn shops in the area where your friend lives?? If so, make sure you call around and put the word out. Watch the newspapers as well, for sale sections of the classifieds and any community newspapers. Thieves can be pretty dumb and not always very computer savy.

Good luck, I hope you find it. Glenn |B)
