yes and no.

sadly, his story is one that generally scares musicians out of wanting to play.
short version of the story is. wrote and cut all his demos himself a few years back. label bidding war ensues. he signs with virgin. they throw money at him, send him up to the farm to record the record with players he picked out to be in his band.
they mix and master it. his new lead guitarist happens to be best friends with Mark Tremonti so they end up opening for Alter Bridge on their west coast leg of the blackbird tour with no record out.
then virgin's parent company gets bought out, record is shelved due to the buyout.
so when all was said and done they said they'd commit to releasing it 3 years later. which put them in a holding pattern with a finished record that wasnt going to be released, and a band that had bills to pay.
just to give you the scope of the guys he had in this band i'll introduce them.
his lead guitarist was Eric Friedman. He's the 2nd guitar in Creed and Tremonti now
His drummer was Dave Elitch. He went on to play in The Mars Volta, hes now in Killer be Killed with Brent from Mastodon, Max Calavera, and Greg Puciato. He's also in Antimasque with Flea.
His bassist was Andy Gerold. He went on to play bass for Manson. Was 2nd guitar for Billy Howerdel's other band Ashes Divide.
Shawn. He went to work in sales. He still does stuff. He's too much of a genius not to. But still. Makes you never want to sign a label deal ever doesnt it?
