There was a Metallica bluegrass tribute a few years ago.. "Fade to Bluegrass".

Sometimes I like to hear other interpretations of a piece of music. In the case of this VH tribute, I think I would have liked to hear a more traditional bluegrass singer doing their stylings rather than DLR, but that's not the way it went. So be it.

How great would it be to play fiddle and mando!

Those instruments sound so good to my ears. Big fan of Chris Thile here.

And I just read that Vinnie is a violinist. That woulda been cool to hear too at the OH!

... ohh... I don't know... it's darkly amusing... it seems to have much more comic and novelty bennifit rather than actual musical value....

they should do a bluegrass tribute to Tool... humm... although... what would they call it... "10,000 biscuits" ?

I heard a spoof on the radio the other morning -- said that Prince had done the same thing -- bluegrass versions of his greatest hits.

It was freaking hilarious.

Good Stuff

You know, I like bluegrass, kind of. I don't know many bands, and I almost never listen to it, but sometimes I like to go to a show or listen to a cd. But I do have to say that on the average day, bluegrass music never crosses my mind or my cd/mp3 player.

That being said, I really have no problem with David Lee Roth doing Bluegrass covers of his old Van Halen songs. Of course I am in a little different situation that a lot of you guys are, but all I do all day is work and commute. I would kill to be playing ANY kind of music. And if it is songs that I helped write, even better. Since David Lee Roth, one time leader of arguably the most popular band on the planet, is doing the EMT thing, chances are his life has not turned out how he wanted it to. So if I was him, and apart from never being in a ground breaking band I am pretty close, I would jump at the opportunity to do anything...

Of course I am a huge sell out... :)
