Question Harmonics

Hi All

My new ASS seems a lot more responsive to pinched and artificial harmonics than my older ASS, any ideas why this could be?

Apart from the colour they are the same woods etc so I cant see why there is such a contrast

Yeah, tossed it in free of charge, just like you Brits toss in an extra "U" in words like colour. ;)

It's great to tell jokes, but I believe the question is legit, so I'll try to help.

First things first: same string gauge, string action and pickup height in both?

If so, well I'm not a luthier, but I believe it may have something to do with the overall resonance of the instrument. Some guitars simply resonate better than others, Steve Vai has a theory about matching "resonating notes" of neck and body. It's a very interesting theory, actually. So, maybe your new guitar is a very resonant one -- or the old is a poorly resonant one.
 
I have several Axis guitars that are basically the same. My hardtail EVH does pinch harmonics better than any of them. I suppose it just depends on the piece of wood.

Guys thanks for all your help on this and the banter about who spells correctly was an added bonus. But we all know that the correct spelling on words comes from England!!!!
 
Even a proud Irishman agree with that! And Australians most of the time. And Canadians are in agreement half of the time.

But we all agree that Balls are Best.

I'll have to try that pinched harmonics test on my EVH hardtail Tim - see what happens?

English is just a bad melting pot of French and Norse words ...
 
Bad melting pot it may be but it is the third most spoken language in the world, after Mandarin Chinese and Spanish, and the most popular second language. So thanks for the useful extra words, we're heartened to see the French borrow so many words themselves in the last twenty years. :D
