Hi guys, a friend of mine has put a 681 pf cap on his vol pot as a treble bleed on his ax40, he says it cleans up real good when he rolls his vol back, he came up with 681 pf after trying a few different values, but Im wondering if anybody here has done this or known of it, his guitar sounds great he has duncan pearly gates neck pickup with an a8 magnet in the bridge and a dimarzio 36th in the neck, its a good combo, but Im just curios about the cap, since im replacing my pups in my ax40 with a set of real ebmm axis pups that i just bought here from another forumite, cant wait to get them!!!!

I've tried a few different treble bleed mods. I honesty can't remember the values, but there is quite a lot of info on the web. Duncan and dimarzio sites both have some values. Some also use a resistor either in series or parallel. Andy Timmons uses a specific value, and his guitar sounds great. He uses the volume knob a ton. Also several of the Ibanez guitars use a 330pf cap which seems to work pretty well. There is also a video where a guy connects two wires out of the cavity and tries several values and combinations to see what works best. That may be your best bet before soldering anything in.

There are as many variations on this as there are websites dealing with it. Tons of old threads here too, so do use the forum search function (or add site:ernieball.com to your google searches). I use a 220pf cap in series with a 100kOhm resistor, but I think I'll use a slightly bigger resistor next time.
