Hello everyone, my name is Sayed & just yesterday I found this forum off the Ernie Ball main website. I havn't been playing the bass for very long, maybe 4 or 5 months off & on, but have decided to become more serious about playing. My current rig (please don't laugh) is a Fender Squier P Bass & an Ampeg B100R amp. I think it's time to upgrade my bass. I've heard wonderful comments around the internet about Music Man basses, so I've decided to get one. I've also decided to get a 5 string because of the versitility of it.
What I am wondering about, is the main difference between the single & double pu configurations. From what I can tell, the EB website doesn't even list a doulbe pu model in the build an instrument section, but as I type this, a blurb keeps flashing at the top of the screen "StingRay5 available now in multiple pickup configurations." Also, in the build an instrument, the color/neck/guard combo I'm most interested does not have a picture available. I'm leaning towards a Black Cherry Burst, maple neck, Shell pickguard, with a possible matching headstock. If anyone has a picture of this bass, I would appreciate a posting of it.

Welcome Sayed.
Like this? No shell but the black PG is awsome.

The 'build an instrument' tool on the website was set up a few years ago now and doesn't include the newer configs.
Nothing to be embarrassed about with your current set up BTW... we all had to start somewhere and you've made a sensible choice with an EB!!;)

Welcome - and no giggles re: your rig here either.

It is sure to mature as you do as a player and it sounds like you're well on your way and heading down the right path... :)

Toombboy, that's a fantastic looking bass. Just wondering if there is a significant difference in tone between the maple & rosewood boards?

There is a difference. Is it significant? That would be a personal preference. I just got my first maple board bass and I like it. The maple board has a brighter tone to it. RW is a warmer tone. They both have their place. Variables would include your own playing style and in some cases types of music you play/like.;)

Welcome to the forum!
