Help! Help me choose a Bongo spec! :)

I’m about to order a 5 string, multi pup, non piezo Bongo.

It MUST be loud, as in a loud colour. It’s a loud shape, its loud anyway, and I want a colour that will really show it off. Like a car that you want everyone to notice in the street. Nothing like Black, or Sapphire Black.

I’m thinking standard black plate to balance the loud colour.

I also need to decide on the pup configuration. I’ve just tested a HH, and it was great. Would I prefer a HS? I’ve no idea. Its the age old EBMM topic of ‘what pups’. Check my signature and see what you think. I’ve got 2 HS basses, 1 HH bass, 1 H bass and the Big Al SSS.

The only thing I can think is that I don’t have a HH in a five string format. BUT, I do like the HS tones. What is the S like on the Bongo?

I know I could just take a simpler route and get a H, but I’m after a bass with a slightly different bridge H Musicman tone. I loved the HH I tried in the store.

As its going to be a new, fresh order, it should arrive with the new tuners. The UK don’t have stock on the spec I’m after (apart from the one I tested) and I’d really like the new tuners. I have no problem with the waiting time. I’m a patient man.

So come on Bongoloids. What should I go for?

I cannot afford to go Piezo unfortunately. I like the Bongo as it is anyway, and I love the amount of versatility already.

I think you answered your own question! Now you just have to decide what color..........

Can't afford the £250 upgrade, and the 4 band plus twin pups is enough for me.

I was a black or grey/silver guy for a long time - went out of my comfort zone on a Candy Red Bongo and s-o-o-o-o-o glad that I did.

Go loud! That Tangerine.Tort combo is looking good!

Definitely not going black. Most black basses remind me of metal bands, and thats not my style (even though I like some heavy music).

So far, looks like Tangerine Pearl HH is winning.

I want to order asap, so might just take the plunge tomorrow.

Tangerine Pearl just SCREAMS Bongo to me!! Either the HH or HS will slay (imho) and you will have a gorgeous beast on your hands....
