Hey, let's put up some threads then and give it a try
But seems like BP is sick of colour discussions, though something like a "Color Poll" could also be extremely interesting for EBMM

if it was a true statement bp made. "if we get 25 we can pick a colour" i think we should go for it.
first thing is to put a poll up with the model choices. i say go fully loaded options wise as its easier to then pick a model. then run the poll for a certain amount of time.
votes should only be made by people that are willing to maybe then order the guitar once both model and colour have been decided , depending on outcome. that way you dont get every single forum member who just posts there vote without being able to afford to buy the overall winning guitar. then once model has been decided (providing that particular model has enough votes to then weed down the colour choice.as not everyone will want the winning colour choice on that particular model.) then poll a colour choice chosen from a list of possibles that people may come up with during the time of the model poll . (choosing the most comon ones that the masses suggest) then once a certain colour has been voted for by a large enough number past the 25 needed(as some people may pull out) then we can put it to bp and ebmm and see if they will build it.
i think this is the only way to do it fairly. and get the amount of orders in to ebmm . hope you all agree.
im well up for this and will love to get my hands on maybe a rare ebmm colour wise at least.

Remember that price will be the driving force in the end. Many times BP and company has offered new things, DD, DD2, everyone has the best of intentions and wants, but reality sets in BOOM, no sale. Pretty sure that's why he said what he said. Years ago he was going to make a Forum only instrument, but people couldn't agree, so it never happened.

I think this is the key.
Would I like one of those cool bright blue double hum Als? Yah. Would I buy it over every existing option of guitar/trem/color/fingerboard color that EBMM already makes? Probably not. There are plenty of good choices. Now, if only I could decide between (choices as of today) an Al and a Silo, I'd be half way there.

Yeah, Glenn, that's it...the price is the driving force. So if we really wish to encounter this challenge, we would need to apply some strategy.
- at first we would need to apply an affordable idea....so, let's say the basic concept is a "budget BFR", made from components that are already there, e.g. the basic guitar is a Silo Special
- Let's say we take a simple HH config, using the same DiMarzio EBMM HBs that are there for the Silo anyway (sounds like making up a contoured SUB)
- use the standard PG options for the Silo Special
- ....and finally agree ONE color (which might be the hardest part)
Do you think, we would get 25 orders on such a guitar, which might be more affordable than a "classic" BFR?

....yes, or even an AL in HH config (requested a lot of times already)....maybe in Seafoam Green / Beachblue / Light Turquoise Sparkle...just for Glenn *lol*

a. get 25 actual paying customers to agree
b. get 25 tire-kickers to agree
c. stop annoying the boss
d. all of the above
I believe I was part of that discussion, and as far as I remember, Sterling never said he was going to make a forum-only instrument. (See options "a" and "b" above to get a read on his reasons why not.) What did eventually come out of that discussion? The Dargies.
And the DDs were a rough idea ("let's see, green") that was then sketched in by Dargin et al and produced in a fairly standard manner, and even THEN there were guys bitching about the inlays and choice of fingerboard woods and so on.
Until very recently, there were nearly 30 standard colors to choose from. Some remain very popular. Some were not. It doesn't make sense to clean the guns, shoot one instrument in a color that only one guy ordered, clean the guns, go back to shooting what people are ordering en masse, etc etc etc. Lather, rinse, repeat. It makes no sense.
So while I am not going to leap about and yell, "Shut up! You're annoying the boss!", I might suggest reading my post over and over again until you think, "I wonder if I'm annoying the boss."
Especially if you are thinking about typing the word "sparkle" again.

Guys,
keep in mind how spoiled we were over the last couple of months...there were the all rosewood neck BFRs, the Dargie IIs, the 25th...this company never ceases to amaze and put out brilliant new stuff...and they'll continue to do so!
Plus, I never held a EBMM in my hands that wasn't a very special guitar even if it was just a regular production model!
I'm not sure whether it'd be fair to always demand something even more special...or a custom colour etc.
I have a hard time keeping up with all the amazing stuff happening lately as it is...
