Right Jack he was enteraining the idea of making a forum only instrument. If memory serves me right.

Glenn |B)

A lot of things that end up in a discussion never come to fruition. "Entertaining" the idea, maybe. The talks I had with him led me to believe that it was nothing more than kicking it around with the boys.

Until the DDs came along. Those were initially touted as 'forum only', but that really didn't make economic sense in the end.

You guys all frothing at the mouth are going to have to excuse me for being such a naysayer, and I have certainly learned to never say never when it comes to what will happen in the future, but I still say "D, all of the above".

As always, I stand ready to be corrected by Sir Biff.

Guys,

keep in mind how spoiled we were over the last couple of months...there were the all rosewood neck BFRs, the Dargie IIs, the 25th...this company never ceases to amaze and put out brilliant new stuff...and they'll continue to do so!
Plus, I never held a EBMM in my hands that wasn't a very special guitar even if it was just a regular production model!

I'm not sure whether it'd be fair to always demand something even more special...or a custom colour etc.

I have a hard time keeping up with all the amazing stuff happening lately as it is...

Yes, absolutely correct...and even with all the options remaining, it's still something unique what you get from EBMM.

As far as I am concerned, I wasn't demanding, not even expecting...it was just something pushed to the mental playground (or was it playground for mentals....???)

And here I stop with this and shut up.....don't wanna annoy anyone anylonger, especially not the guy who runs the company that made these very special instruments for me that I am so fascinated about everytime I take them out of the case. And I mean it :)

Didn't mean to offend you guys or anything like that, we all get carried away at times...it was just meant to be a general statement.

hehe - I go to sleep for 12 hours and look what happens,

Would be nice, but at 25 guitars I doubt BP would even break even: - there were over 500 of the first run of Dargie Delights an BP passed comment that he was bearly breaking even on them - and that was in fat funding times, we're in a wonkey world of funding right now... Ok they had bells and whisles, but the paint/testing etc etc of a custom colour maybe not sound in the mighty $ dept.

I would love sparkles to be an option and Glen a Sparkle BP AL sounds killer diller, but thats you me (and rob would have one 'cause it's an AL! ) be we'd all have to have the same pickup combo and fight 22 others... We can't agree on string gauges around here, let alone finish and neck options.... Just Sayin'

I'm with Jack I think it was intended in good spirit, but option D and the box has gone orange!

But if you need someone to make up the numbers I'd certainly consider it....

Just my 2 cents...

Wow! OK.
I agree with Jack that I bet we won't agree, but I would be happy to talk about it.

Natural SiLOs everyone?

Me too. Always very impressive. There is more fun here than when I would look through the Sears catalog when I was a kid.

I dunno, I don't feel very "spoiled" after all- we're still paying for these, it's not like they're being given away.
I don't have 27 color options as I'm not interested in anything but the JP7 BFRs. I had 8 color options, now only 4. And I only kinda like one of them. I actually liked all 4 colors that were discontinued. So I guess now I just don't feel spoiled about the one option that is somewhat appealing to me.

You guys are never going to:

a. get 25 actual paying customers to agree
b. get 25 tire-kickers to agree
c. stop annoying the boss
d. all of the above

I believe I was part of that discussion, and as far as I remember, Sterling never said he was going to make a forum-only instrument. (See options "a" and "b" above to get a read on his reasons why not.) What did eventually come out of that discussion? The Dargies.

And the DDs were a rough idea ("let's see, green") that was then sketched in by Dargin et al and produced in a fairly standard manner, and even THEN there were guys bitching about the inlays and choice of fingerboard woods and so on.

Until very recently, there were nearly 30 standard colors to choose from. Some remain very popular. Some were not. It doesn't make sense to clean the guns, shoot one instrument in a color that only one guy ordered, clean the guns, go back to shooting what people are ordering en masse, etc etc etc. Lather, rinse, repeat. It makes no sense.

So while I am not going to leap about and yell, "Shut up! You're annoying the boss!", I might suggest reading my post over and over again until you think, "I wonder if I'm annoying the boss."

Especially if you are thinking about typing the word "sparkle" again.

Um, I should add: IMO.

Jack

LOL well said, what a thread, and i agree the answer is D!!!!!!!!!!
Man i have been on this forum for almost three years now, bought, owned and sold my share and seen lots of great cool stuff come about, colors, options, BFR's LE's new addtions etc. etc., sometimes I think we have become a spoiled bunch of brats never satisifed with the great stuff laid in front of us or the first looks at new stuff or the chance to get them before the general public and the openess of BP and his availability and availibility of his staff. EBMM offers way more than other companies while its OK to ask seems this happens ever fing day, lifes to short enjoy whats in front of you and yes many just kick the tires, realize EBMM is a business and has to make a profit, and if it aint profitable it aint getting made, i think they have a clue in the industry with what works and what does not.
Plus the economy is down, to get new stuff need to buy the old stuff, thats why colors are gone plus just go to dealers websites lots of great guitars been sitting on some of the dealers sites along time, supply and demand simple macro economics.

OK Rant Over.

Now how bout an Axis Super Sport Hot Rod Red with Peizo:D

Gotta agree with ya Keith. We do act like brats here at times. Some will never be completely satisfied.

I think we could get 20 people to agree on a color. Say....another color shifting finish.:) But getting 20 people to all agree on the same model. Never gonna happen.

what the **** just happened here? less than 12 hours and it's as far as 57 replies???

and you people hijacked my thread like nobodies business :D
might as well join the fray.

Poppa
, does the spraying process happen accordingly to model? does spraying candy red imply you must first spray only JPs then Silos then something else?

suppose this:
A-25 or more people agree on a color,
B-an ordering window is set up,
C-25 or more pre-pay their guitar, with no option to rescind their order,
D-all the guitars are made at the same time, as soon as the financials are in order

would you lose money if you had to spray 25 different bodies in one custom color?

of course, i don't see it happening, there are simply not enough paying forumites to discuss this and still have 25 orders. if i were the boss, i'd take like, 12 colors, let people vote and put the top 2 or 3 into circulation for a while. MAYBE let them vote neck/board combos...

not being the boss, however...

I JUST WANTED TO KNOW WHEN THE NEW COLOURS WERE COMING AND IF THERE WAS A LIMITED EDITION NEXT YEAR!!! !!! !!! AND I ALREADY GOT MY ANSWER!!! !!! !!!

cuz i don't give a Nasa ****, if i had to choose today, i'd flip a coin between pearl white and stealth black and call it a day. even pearl redburst might do it, if i don't over think it.

what's with you ppl today? why is everyone acting so defensive? it's a forum, not the board commitee, this is where people come to talk nonsense. if there's enough people to make a profitable nonsense great :D , if not, it's just another worthless thread.

the dargies got one inlay first with rosewood boards, this year it's been ebony with another inlay and maybe something else if we're still here next year. that's how ebmm manages to please everyone, the efficient way, one person at a time, allowing demand to build up. :)

to the people kissing A today, you have all gone low on my consideration. we should always be able (read: capable and willing) to express our wishes in a constructive and respectful manner. naysayers can do the same. we should also do our best (considering the privileged access we have to the CEO) not to lead Poppa bad judgements. his loss is in turn, our loss. hence, i kinda expect the EBMM forumite not to grovel, not even out of courtesy(or loyalty). ;)
