I was wondering about this?

When I had a JP6, the wires from the piezo saddles were soldered onto a printed circuit board that screwed onto the trem block.
So when you have a hardtail guitar that has a piezo, do the piezo saddle wires again go to a PCB (I can't imagine they do, where would the pcb go?).

A cable from the pcb then ran to the pre amp

Anybody know?

I've had two Axis SS piezo guitars, both hard tail, and both had PCBs, which were in the cavity with the volume and tone pots. (The pots were soldered onto the PCB.)

Thanks for that Elif.
That's intriguing - by that, I mean that the pots are soldered to the PCB?
The Albert Lee has the Piezo preamp routed into the body which provides the two jack outlets. Now if my (old and faded) memory is correct, the axis has two jack outlets but no visible pre amp? - This has set my mind working.

So has anybody got a photo of that installation? Even better would be a picture of a hardtail Al and Piezo.

This is all located inside the control cavity, same preamp for Axis SuperSport and 20th Anny Silo

Wow - thanks Pete. Great shots that has got me thinking ... .... Spud thinks "can I install the gubbings from an Albert Lee type pre amp into the existing control cavity of a hardtail Albert mmmmm that would mean that the only mod necessary would be the installation of a second jack rather than routing a cavity for the pre amp mmmmm

^
thanks anyway.
I'll be back home in a few days time and will be able to give this more consideration.

(if my plan comes to fruition, I'll be ditching the Titanium saddles! ;) the only fly in the ointments is that on the Al the pots are mounted on a scratchplate as opposed to through the wood of the body oooerrrr more thought required)
