I've been on the hunt for a Telecaster style guitar the past couple of months, something with that spank and twang you just tend not to get with other instruments. Unfortunately EBMM don't seem to make such a beast, I guess the Albert Lee is about the closest but they are like hens teeth in the UK (my main EBMM dealer doesn't stock them because they are "too ugly!!!", I agree they are a bit of an acquired taste). Anyway I digress,
This hunt has taken me through at least 50 different instruments from Fender Highway1's through various custom shop models, Through G&Ls, Roberts plus too many others to mention.
Unfortunately, although some of these did sound Ok none of them came close to the playability of my Axis Supersport. The Supersport has completely spoiled me the neck is simply spectacular and I was not prepared to accept an instrument with inferior playability to the ASS.
Anyway yesterday I found my perfect Tele, the neck is stunning (an equal to the ASS) fantastic tone and faultless build quality. The instrument I bought was a Suhr Chambered T with flame maple top. However the price of competing with the EBMM playability was over £2000, almost double the price I paid for the ASS.
So there you go you can (IMO) equal EBMM but it really does cost you!!!
