How to make your Axis' Floyd Rose a floating tremolo

well Tollie, that looks absolutely fantanstic! I wouldn't have any remorse at all, and I won't when I do mine. I need to find a luthier good enough that I'd trust to do that job. Congrats, good job.

just to give you an idea of how it is made at the factory:

Thanks for the pic, Joe. In hindsight, I should have shown him a pic like that. I made the mistake of assuming that it would come out like that.

Like everyone else said, once it's stained it shouldn't be very noticeable. I don't think you can go wrong with staining it black.

man, you know what assuming does... From the factory its cut so tight around the baseplate in that picture but I agree when you stain it wont be that bad, plus if it sounds good who cares I guess(with my ocd it would drive me nuts though)
I played your black magic axis at north attleboro the other day, man that thing is a sweet guitar. Was thinking about bringing in my Kramer proaxe to trade towards it

Yeah Roger, I should have been more specific. I'm anal too, so this really bothers me.

My Black Magic Axis is a great guitar, but I wasn't playing it much, with having three other Axii, so I traded in in for another ebmm that was on their used page of the website. I'll show you all in about a week, when it arrives...

it was that overpriced red evh was it...

How does it sound Bryan? That is what is most important.

If you were really worried, sure, a bit of stain in the hole and you won't even notice - But man, I wouldn't stress it. In fact, life is too short to even worry about it. Like the big man said - Just shut up and play yer guitar :D

He definitely took out too much wood, I'd be kinda pissed myself. Once stained or painted it wont stand out as bad. still a shame because he did do a nice job other than creating a crater for the Floyd to sit in

Hey Scott,

She still sounds the same plugged in, which is great. I do hear alot more acoustic sound coming from that big hole. I'm not even kidding; it's louder unplugged than it ever was.

I haven't bought any stain yet. I will though. Soon.

Sent my Axis to my luthier yesterday, he's gonna look at it and get back to me.

Try shimming the neck with one or two pieces of a business card first? It might be enough to get the tremolo off the body enough. If it isn't enough, no harm done...
