Let me recalculate that.

Let's see, in 1991, I was bussing tables at probably 4.25 an hour or close to that. My EVH was $1325 out the door (actually in the mail). Let's assume my "take home" after taxes worked out to. . . say . . . $3.25 an hour. That comes to works out to 407 hours to pay for my EVH, minimum. That's not taking into account anything else.

Now averaging about 40 tables an hour. . . that's about 16,307 bussed tables. ROUGHLY. My back still hurts, but I have a green EVH! Woo-hoo!!

I don't see how it really is any of our business.

Back to the topic, I just want to mention that both Peter and Tom at Act 1 in Langley were excellent to deal with. Personable, responsive and pretty much able to answer any of the questions that I would hope or expect from a dealer.

I will definitely be making my next EBMM purchase through them.

Tim and Dan, thanks for the tips. If I travel to Vegas or Prescott I’ll be sure to check them out.

I wish Strings and Things would post here BUt they think it is a waste of time

I agree BP, I think it would give them a good indication of the things they could look at to see if any improvements were needed.

I'm not saying that they should follow every single whim of the forum, but it may be beneficial.

I'm in no position to tell them, or you, how to run the company though. :)

It would be great to get more EBMM's on the wall. Hanging next to the usual suspects, if someone picks up the EBMM, they should immediately notice the difference.

j@ck$on
F3nd3r
1b@n#z
g!b$0n

and there are about 3 musicmen
down in a corner

i wish more people would see the light

id like to employ the trick of altering displays
i do this at cd shops, bringing dream theater to the front
or to number one in the best sellers

That's why - and I hope some dealers are reading this thread - you have to have 'em to sell 'em which means you gotta order them to have them.- and you do have to plan ahead. Sometimes it is difficult for indy guys to look that far ahead, but for those that do, they are going to be the successful Music Man dealers. Then there is cash flow, as Sterling has mentioned. Without that it is difficult to justify the investment of having several Music Mans on the wall. But again, for those that do, the payoff is there waiting.

That's my pennies' worth.

Tim and Dan, thanks for the tips. If I travel to Vegas or Prescott I’ll be sure to check them out.

The GC in Vegas is great, the guys that I have dealt with are interested in EBMM and have no problem looking up a price quote for you on the spot. Once the guy was a tad busy and asked for my cell #, I was maybe 3 minutes down the road from leaving and he called me with a price. They have a few EBMM's in stock too

Pat's Desert Music is another good location for EBMM, and the guys there are great, especially "Beetlejuice" He loved my AL and is a great tech too.

I think CowTown Guitars is also an EBMM dealer, never been to that store though

The guys who hosted Albert Lee last year is also an EBMM dealer, the name of his store escapes me right now, but last time I was in there it was loaded with F----- relics only

If some of these locations are no longer authorized dealers, I apologize, it's been awhile since I had any need to look for anything.

Dan,

I totally agree, when I first moved here to Vegas, I went over to Pat's Desert Music and they had two Petrucci's on the wall, one was sold as I was talking to Larry and a week later the other had a deposit

Yeah, Pug, it should be very simple if you do the math - you sell an instrument, you should reorder a similar instrument. But Pat's, like some others, have dropped the ball and not reordered what they have sold, so now they have next to nothing in stock. It makes my job frustrating when I see the customers they are losing to the Internet or the chain stores by not doing a simple follow-through.

I'm still heavily considering trying to open my own store.

In a metropolitan area as massive as San Antonio (7th largest city in the country) and as musically active as Austin, EBMM is barely, if at all, represented here.

It really sucks. :(

It's good for Pete though! :D

the market is creating an opportunity for someone. That is what happens when people get disconnected from their customer...some one comes along and siezes the opportunity
