hmm... have you thought of trying out a Parker Fly Bass? I do believe they have stainless steel frets or just get a re-fret with stainless steel frets, probably alot cheaper than a Parker Bass .

Or... remove the frets and get little strips of maple to act as fret markers and go... FRETLESS!

Try some of those nylon tape wound strings. They arn't going to be bright but they will go thump and you won't have a rash.

i play with a pick. and yes the inflamation is only on the left hand. mainly my middle finger which i use most. i used to get it on both when i played guitar from palm muting on the bridge. the side of my hand would break out from touching the strings.
i want to let this break out totally dissappear before i play again. should be another day or so. then try again. i may have had some "left over" rash from the pre-rotosound strings when i tried them. i will wait untill im compleatly clear to play again.
i know they make stainless frets, but i wonder what grade they are and if they contain nickel too....

I don't know if warmoth supply it seperately, but they have a fret wire they state is nickel-free...

http://www.warmoth.com/Guitar/Necks/Fretsize.htm

I have no experience with it.

Nice one... good luck.

I'd keep the strings wiped down after playing to prevent any build up of fret nickel on the strings.

hi all, im new to this site...and am looking for an answer on this too. im about to have tests on my skin to figure out whats wrong with my hands, but my story is almost identical to colp_lumps. been playing guitar for 10 years, then suddenly 12 months ago my hands broke out into uncontrollable eczema or contact dermatitis. ive been researching soooooo many things a to what is causing it and finally i think it may be the nickel. hopefully test results will come back in favour of something else. thanks to dlloyd for posting some really interesting feedback for us!
