I REALLY did it. For realz yo!

I know this is a little off topic, but I consider you guys like a distant family. I am finally a homeowner! Technically, I'm a condo-owner, because houses in Santa Fe are just ridiculous. It's something I thought I would never be able to do (while single), so I'm pretty thrilled.

At the end of May, I'll be relocating from NYC to Santa Fe, NM. I can finally get a dog and stop paying RENT. After 11 years at roughly $1000 a month, I could have almost paid for a house by now. Living in NYC has been fun and I have jillions of dear friends, so no regrets.

I remember Big Poppa saying something about "make change happen", or something like that and it stuck with me. So thanks for that. Now I just need a car. :D

Congrats! Its never too soon to buy a house.
When I bought my house, I think I was more excited about getting a dog than actually owning the house :)

Congrats. I moved west two years ago (to AZ) from the midwest and love it out here. I have been to Santa Fe a few times and it is a nicer climate than the PHX area. Enjoy.

I said the opportunity only comes with change....

Yeah, that was it! Great advice.

As for why New Mexico, my grandparents bought a cabin for the whole family back in 1970. It's up in the mountains and I can go there anytime I want. It is about 90 minutes from Santa Fe and I love the vibe of that city, so it felt like a natural choice. Taos is great, but too small. Albuquerque has more of a city feel, which I don't want. Santa Fe feels like a town, with only 70,000 (instead of 8 million in NYC).

I hadn't been to the cabin for about 20 years, so I visited last April and thought, I can get used to this. I pretty much fished all the time and enjoyed the nice clean air. I guess I'm just getting old. This is an adventure and I'm scared to death.

Here's a picture of our cabin:

Rad...the cabin and the surrounding area looks like a majestic beautiful spot! I've driven through Albuquerque several times, but never been to Santa Fe...it's looks like a beautiful area...big sky kind of country!

An adventure it is, eye opening and exciting...I'm very happy for you brotha!
