Well I've been here for a while now. I just never seemed to get time to post pics of the guitars I've acquired. I got one, then another, then another, so I decided to wait until I got the batch of "purples" I wanted before posting. I have, and here they are now. It was some work too to get good pics so that took a while, and then I had to tweak the pics to get them to accurately show the colors, since purple is hard to photograph (and the JPX is really hard to capture). I'll provide a small blurb on each guitar.
I got introduced to EBMMs from Eddie Van Halen. I didn't know what they were, but I remember waaay back when the Axis first came out how beautiful they were -- especially the purple one! So the years went by and I decided to finally go get one. I did the research on Eddie's guitar history and learned about the EVH, Axis, and then the Wolfgangs. It just turned out I got a Wolfie first, and it was beautiful. It was nice and I enjoyed playing it but then I got an Axis, and it was better -- I just liked it more, can't put my finger on exactly why (maybe it was form factor, neck, sound, or hmmmm, all of the above), so I sold the Wolfie. I played my Axis, learned more and more about EBMMs, and just kept buying them.
The first one I got was the Axis, a beautiful purple quilt. It came from GC and according to the sales mgr it came from the personal collection of the owner of B.C. Rich guitars (at least that's what he said). I love the top.
The next guitar I actually got was a mint JP6 'Mystic Dream'. I loved the finish at first, but eventually couldn't bond with it - the purple was good, but not the green. So I sold it and set my sights on a JPX -- the ultimate shade of purple. I bought one and got it new, the only one I've bought new. This guitar is absolutely awesome. When I got it I couldn't stop playing it. I love the neck, and love the form factor on the Petrucci's. The only thing I don't like about the JP's is where the switch is on the top, it always seems to get in the way. Other than that, it's a perfect guitar. I was really surprised about the tremelo. I have several Ibbys and they, like the Axis, have that locking nut and always stay in tune. I gotta say this thing is great, it stays in tune! (not perfect like a locking nut, but I'd give it a 98% performance factor). Pics of the JPX are kinda tough, not only do all the JPX's look exactly the same, but it's so dark it doesn't shoot well without good lighting.
The next guitar I got was a Purple Sunset SM-Y2D, a beautiful flame top. This was another EBMM I've always had my sights on, it's an absolutely beautiful guitar. This guitar is totally different than my other guitars due to the tone. Not sure if it's the PUs or woods, but this thing has monster tone. I wish it had a rounded body like the JP's (a strat style), not real keen on the square edge (like a tele). I saw Steve Morse recently and his guitar really stood out and had the same fantastic tone -- only at 120dB!!! (the ENGLs sounded great). This guitar needed some work to get it back to stock condition. The owner had replaced the S PU and did some mods to the knobs and switches. Nods to the guys at EBMM, I got geniune replacement components (lucky for me the guitar did come with the original PU), a new pickguard, and put the thing back to full stock - it looks brand new!
I was so happy with the JPs I had been shopping for more. There aren't too many purple ones, so I figured I'd settle for another one that had purple (and red, and blue, and green, and yellow, and every other color), I fell in love with the Pearl White JP6. I was lucky enough to find a loaded one here for sale by Dr.Strangenote, thanks so much to Jason for a great guitar and great opportunity. This guitar isn't stock, but I absolutely love all the mods he did to the guitar - haven't changed a one. He replaced the black knobs with chrome, and the black PUs with CL/LF equivalents in white. It looks great! I gotta add about this guitar that I absolutely love how this thing plays, it is my best playing guitar, plays like butta. This thing plays itself! With the mods on this guitar, it's a one of a kind in the world -- eat your heart out!

And last but not least... I had heard so much about the ash Axis Sport and they are so beautiful that I had been looking for one. They're kinda harder to find since they're not made anymore and older (mine is over 15 yrs old). So I finally found one and man I love this thing! Personally for me, I don't like the pickguards on these at all, so it's off in these pics showing the full beauty of the wood (I used a dye in the screw holes to hide the light colored wood). Sure enough, this guitar has a really unique tone, I love it. It's a tremelo version (the only way to go for me) and as such I wish it would stay in tune like an Axis or JP. But I love this guitar and am very happy to have been able to find one.

So now, I continue my search to be able to find (and afford) what I consider to be the holy grail of my PURPLE collection:
Thanks everyone for looking! Hope you enjoyed it!
