Ok. I have a bro who is a bassist in a Van Halen tribute band. He, of course, plays bass and is a phenomenal player to boot. He plays in the VH band to have fun and let loose without having to be all serious.
He has a "Jack Daniels" bass that was made for him. However, it is a piece of garbage and is mainly there for looks.....in reference to Mike Anthony and it gets the younger peeps excited....
He was really griping about the bass and I told him about my EBMM Bongo. He never heard of it and I told him I would bring it in and let him give her a whirl at his next band's practice. He said if it is better than his buddy's Ibanez, he would be shocked. I told him the Ibanez couldn't polish the bongos fret board on it's worse day. He was not buying it. I pressed on and told him, if he did not like the bongo, I would pay for the doctor's visit to examine his head......that sealed the deal That was last night.
Today.........dude could not believe what he heard, played, felt, and just would not basically shut the hell up about the bongo.
. He said it was the best bass he has ever played and the members of his band loved the sound as well. So much so, they asked him to ask me if he could use it at their next gig.....which is tomorrow (Friday). He told me when he hit the first note, the whole band looked at him and said ,"What in the hell is that thing of beauty..." He gave them the story.
So, he asks me, "Can I use it for our next show on Friday?". I told him, well, the bongo ain't very Van Halen now is it.....he kinda sulked a little bit, but said, "Maybe if Mike Anthony hears it, he'll convert and then it will fit the Van Halen scheme.." I lost it and said Yes! Couldn't argue with that reasoning.....hehehehehe....
Another satisfied non-believer! I will let you know how the show goes, as I will be attending to safeguard my bongo, I mean, support my friend's band.....life is good.
