We just survived an attempt by the local Police Chief to guide us through the throng, but we beat a hasty retreat back to the bunker. Time to pull up a desk and get some shuteye.

Where are the fire hoses when you need them?

I'm going to be really pissed if I miss my 7.00am tee time on the course in the morning.

Spoken like a man with his priorities in the right place.

This is truly scary stuff. I cannot imagine what it must be like.

For some reason I keep picturing your shirt collection...have any of 'em with you? They might help to drive the hordes off!

3.20am now. Had a couple of hours sleep propped up in the corner of my office. Looking out the window, half the protesters are asleep on the ground outside the building. Rain would be a Godsend, as would a few thousand watts of PA and a Black Sabbath CD.

There's two of us here, but that's the sum total of whiteness in our company. Actually, the Chinese Indonesians who work for us are the ones who are scared, since they always get targetted when things go to **** here. Our gang of hostages consists of 2 Australians, 3 Chinese Indonesians and 3 Indonesians. I've had two hours sleep and am going to miss my golf game, so I'm pissed rather than frightened.

Have you guys try some propaganda. Maybe print this out on some leaflets and throw them over the fence?

There is a dangerous virus being passed electronically, orally and by
hand. This virus is called Worm-Overload-Recreational-Killer (WORK).

If you receive WORK from any of your colleagues, your boss or anyone
else via any means DO NOT TOUCH IT. This virus will wipe out your
private life completely.

If you should come into contact with WORK put your jacket on and take
two good friends to the nearest bar.

Purchase the antidote known as Work-Isolator-Neutralizer-Extractor
(WINE) or Bothersome-Employer-Eliminator-Rebooter (BEER).

Take the antidote repeatedly until WORK has been completely eliminated
from your system.

You should forward this warning to 5 friends. If you do not have 5
friends, you have already been infected and WORK is controlling your
life.

I tell you, Mark, reading some of your updates over these last months has, at times, made me miss life in the 3rd World. You know what I'm talking about...drivers, maids, being incredibly popular with certain segments of the population, etc.

Today, I remembered why I like Texas.

Keep your head down.

It's good to hear you have resources like that available. I was wondering what "Plan B" would turn out to be.

Presumably they'll get hungry/thirsty and go home at some point, no?

Are the authorities doing anything to break this up?
