Heh...Um....I read your post phonetically? :D

I just wanted to pop the tires on the "rosewood neck" bandwagon before it got a full head of steam. Or, something.

The two things I was told on the night were it would have a maple top on it, kind of like on the 20th Stingray and Alnico pickups.

I take it there's still a chance for a RW neck... weeeeeeeee!!!

I think this was touched on a while back, re: the Bongo 6... But, it wasn't inspired by a certain Asian Bassist who plays with a big MM guitar endorsee with their own sig instrument, was it???

No rosewood neck on the 20th.

From the discussion in Dallas, I get the impression the only way a bass neck made of rosewood is going to be released to the general public is through a BFR, where they know they have x number of neck blanks big enough for a bass so they can make # number of instruments. I'm sure the price will reflect the premium, too, as it should. If I remember correctly, BP said something about having to outbid Lexus for the rosewood needed for the guitar necks...

For the record, no mention of a limited run of rosewood necked basses was announced in Dallas.

IMO, the 20th anniversary 5 string is something they want to be able to offer to anyone who wants to order during the order window, which means readily available materials. Rosewood neck blanks of a quality satisfactory to EB big enough to build a bass neck out of simply aren't plentiful enough for an open ended # of orders. Extra long rosewood neck blanks simply don't grow on trees, ya know?

Wait a minute...

Great news on the SR5 20th. Now I won't have to look for a maple board Alnico pre '92 bass. Will the 20th SR5 be offered with a maple board? I'm going to have to sell my DD SR4HS as soon as I get it to fund the my single H SR5 20th with maple board then. Had I known I was going to switch strictly to 5 strings I would have purchased an SR5 single H DD bass.
