Well, I agree that you shouldn't trust someone to keep up with something you absolutely can't do without or don't have the means to replace. My best friend from HS that I was in a band with for some time after school, came to my house and borrowed my first ever guitar, my bass amp and 2 cabs. Got it from my roommate who knew I would have loaned it to him had I been asked. I didn't hear from my "best friend" for nearly a year. He said all my stuff got stolen from his place and he was embarrassed to tell me. I think he pawned my stuff just like he did his own which is why he had to "borrow" mine in the first place.

With that said, report this guy because he is one of the bad ones and learn from your mistake of trusting too much. Don't be too cynical about trusting anyone, though as life can get very lonely playing your prize instrument with the only person you "know" you can trust.

Cops and I would send notices to the mucsic stoes and pawn shops in the area (and even some of the big shops too... Bass NW, The Bass Place etc) with a picture and serial number... also I know Bass Player mag prints info on stolen basses.

and thats the dilemma that faces every one of us.

its best to be somewhere in between. enjoy and use all your prised posessions, but don't let them stay overnight with someone other than immediate family...(if you can't trust your family, then you're doomed anyway, right?)

That's cool, we must have a lot in common. :D

Seriously that's a bummer about your bass. I know the loss. I had a late 60's Rick prototype stolen out the back of my car a long time ago when I was gone for maybe 15 minutes in a store. To my knowledge only 1 was ever made in production and that one was given to George Harrison. If I had that Rick today and sold it at auction it would fetch a small fortune.

remember. I've had some stuff stolen from me, and I know who it was, but cannot prove it. I feel like peewee with his stolen bike.

That really blows Jean, but what can I say... he's from Delta!:p
I'll definitely keep my eyes open. Our repair guy see's alot of work from all over the lower mainland so we'll definitely keep our eyes open to see if it comes in for a set-up or anything.
btw, what was the name of the band? I might just grab a few buddies to go check out a set if they're playing around town still.

definitely call either the RCMP or Delta/Vancouver police ASAP.

all the best man.

the band is called Doctor Pockets, that or Lap Dance.... if you wanna know the band member's name, I'll private message it to you haha ...

I 've tried to get some " info " on Rob's ( drummer ) run abouts, see if he was avoidin' my calls , or just out of town... and the down's staires neiboore ( friend ) said he was around a lot, even got beat up in front of his house for "we don't know" .. so ... yeah

I would not wait that long in his case. He is getting beat up outside his door he owes money he don't have.

Your bass got hocked and he is guilty and not your friend.

Call the police and quit screwing around before your bass is out of reach.

IMHO

so AS far as I am concern , Canada sucks , nothing really I can do against him , cause It got stolen from me in BC , and I'm in montreal , and since he hold it from me it's not actually stolen from my place , but more like when a girl divorces and keep the clothes just to piss the dude off ... well he's the girl, a big ape like hairy girl ...

anybody has any idea of what to do ? any one from BC .... I'm growing desperate with that and I'm want it back , somehow....

Not that I condone violence....but, it is amazing what you can get out of someone with a shrimp fork.....for I am an expert in this technique.......

Curiosity has me wondering.....what did the police say?

This is hard for me as I know exactly what I would do. I won't tell you because you shouldn't do what I would do.

Now find someone different to talk to about this. If that stands it sucks but I would sure make sure to get about 15 different legal opinions.

You got a picture of that guy? and you (or someone you know) any good at making a quick website? POST THE sonofagun all over the web!
He's got a wife? post him in a dating website, then you might have some leverage with him, think about something that he really would not want to see
on the web... just an idea...

Well bro....your idea can land him in jail. This is NOT good advice. Leverage with his wife???...that can be considered blackmail....again, will get him time in the cross bar Hilton. Technically, Jean's bass was not "stolen"........

Get legal advice on this. Take him to small claims court.....But, don't give up. You got the serial number of the bass? Post it here and we will be on the look out.

yeah , take him to court , if it wasn't the fact that he's on the other side of the country and I need to know if It,ll cost me more than what the base is worth , yet... just for the principe of it , band mates just CAN'T or SHOULDN'T steal other's member's gears , despite the anger and rescentment toward each other ... yet I would like to see if he can drum with some arms and legs missing ... but I'm better than that ( actually I'm just too much of a chicken to do get some dudes to do that haha ... )

but my personal policeman ( uncle ) is checking with ppl at offices on all level he can to see where we can crack that **** up .. and if he fail , I'll still try to convince the Federal police to do a **** , yet ...

but **** what an idiot .... damn that drummer ....

again here's the serial # F09455
and here's a picture

peace
