Here's the pic of the headstock, such as the pawn shop displayed it in the auction.

IMO, you just have to TAKE it back, not BUY it back.

Yeah I know, an airline ticket would probably cost more than a new bass...
We gotta find a way to get the police involved....

I don't think so. AFAIK, the pawn shop owner knows the bass is stolen, and he is warned about what he exposes himself to if he ever sells it.

They are aware of a bass like that one is stolen. I have not gotten the serial number out of them. I told them I would call them today and expect an answer. They asked why and I gave them a reason. They told me I would have my answer today. I also told them I know it is on e-bay and if they (pawnshop) sells it, they will have more problems on their hands than they would want. I did say it in a way without being threatening and I did have a good convo with the person there. Very nice convo at that. They could have easily hung up on me. So, I would benefit them to hold onto that item and verify some information with me or Jean first. I am almost 100% positive it is his as there are too many things lining up with what Jean has posted. We'll see.

J-F - glad you're back!
I may be stating the obvious, but have you called the Vancouver police?

Going to get it would cost more than the bass and buying it back is just wrong.

The cops have to get on this.

Is it possible that your "friend"'s uncle pawned it without your "friend" knowing, and that your friend is even half-innocent?

If so get in touch with you friend and his girlfriend and his mom... make a bit of a s***-storm on a personal level.

Great. Do you think the pawn shop could be kind enough to ship to bass to JF ? Could be a solution, no ?

An Eagle's Eye and an Elephant's Memory award for kaaikop

Hell Yeah and way super cool. If this works out like koogs says it will. (and it will cause koogs dosen't talk sh!t) I want to hear good things about Koogs, Psychipet doing this for a brother. If there is shipping involved please let me know how I can contribute.

I also want to hear people singing the praises for the pawn shop that is willing to do the right thing. You can imagine that they are taking a hit on having to return this bass. If there is a way we could find their inventory, I would like to buy something. I would suggest that everyone here do the same. This is a business we should support.

I'll wait a while to start singing. I know pawn shops from way back. I'm not saying this particular one is run by weasels, but I'm just going to sit back and wait to see if they do the right thing.

I'd definately do that - it's a proof of ownership, and that it is YOUR bass!
