I want a Les Paul

Had an hour to kill in town the other day, so went into the nearest music shop to get some picks etc.
Asked the main man if I could have a noodle on something - picked up a 2nd hand Epihone LP (they don't sell EBMM).

And so I had a noodle. And after a bit I got used to the neck.....the crackly electrics I could sort.....perhaps with a good set-up....replace the p'ups.....mmmmm. So drove home thinking "You know, perhaps I should have a long hard look at the Gibson range again..."

And then.....later that evening......plugged my Luke in and let rip..... WOW!!!! What was I thinking??? EBMM guitars are amazing.....the pickups!!!.....the finish!!...THE GOD DAMN NECK!!!!

Ahem....so, If you are ever in need of a little arm around the shoulder to re-assure yourselves that you DO own the best guitars on the planet, go get a LP.

You won't play it much, but when you do, you'll know why.

It's good to know that your EBMM is better than a used Epiphone, but then again, almost any decent guitar is.... Next time you might try comparing an OLP musicman to a USA made Gibson Classic or Standard and let us know what you think.

I played an excellent Epiphone Les Paul on Thursday. Made a great sound, and the finish on it was really good. It was a 3 pickup black beauty. I was so surprised to be honest. That said, I personally prefer my Axis guitars, but I am sure its somebodys dream guitar.

It was just a laugh....I have heard varying reports about Epi's electronics and the one I played did sound scratchy. The point I was making was that just try playing something else for a bit, and then go back to your favourite instrument. Helps to remind you WHY you like it so much. No offence meant to Epi or Gibson owners

Just for the record, I would have an EBMM over an Epiphone every time, but Epiphones are not bad starter guitars for the money and much better than the Les Paul copy I owned when I started playing. I think the reason I see so many good young players these days is because they can get a playable guitar without too big an investment.

Im not into epis at all. but I do wish MM offered a glued neck 24 3/4 scale guitar, I know its not their bag but thats all im missing from my collection, and I cant seem to find an SG or paul that I like under a few grand or that was made in the last 20 years. im sure MM would make a kick ass instrument -

The one thing I've noticed about Gibson is that when you're shopping for one most times you have to sample several guitars before finding one with a really great tone. I've even noticed this with PRS. I've never found that to be the case with Music Man though. All of the Music Man guitars I've ever played have been very consistent and very good. They have a guality that even after many years of playing I find difficult to describe. It just an overall goodness from the finish to the quality of the hardware and the awesome fretwork etc. No details get overlooked on Music Man instruments.

My buddy is moving and he wanted me to hold onto his gear for him for a while. He has a pretty nice PRS guitar that I was playing last night. I do like my Silo Spec better, but his PRS is a pretty sweet instrument. PRS would probably be my second choice in guitars.

EBMM is truly a magnificent instrument. I have had those other No.1 brands in the past, but i've never owned anything like my Luke. I believe my new family member will be just as good...i wanted one without piezo too.

In the 24 3/4 scale guitars, I've ditched my Gibby's and switched to Hamer's. Second to nobody for fit, finish and quality. New price's are resonable for the quality, but resell prices suck on them. I'd go used Hamer for a killer guitar for a good deal, best bang for the buck around.

BTW, there was a poll recently on the Hamer forums for what guitars forum owners liked other than Hamer, and EBMM was probably the first choice, a lot of love for EBMM with Hamer players. I dig 'em both...

Anyway I bought an Epi Les Paul on an impulse buy a month or so ago. Was cheap and well there is a reason I took it, is it ok to post pictures? Then you might understand why I bought an Epi lol... i've replaced the bridge pickup so far though and will do the neck soon. Although I just bought another Axis so it is gonna get played even less (was only real fixed bridge guitar i had for alternate tunings with the band)

You are absolutely right about this and I own three Les Paul historics. The historics have less variation than the Standard models and tend to be a bit lighter. Gibson got a deservedly bad rep several years ago and while they are still not perfect they are a lot better than they were. But you really need to pick out the right instrument.

I completely agree that EBMM are absolutely consistent, well set up and superb quality. They are probably the only brand I would buy over the internet sight unseen because I know there will be no issues. I would never buy a Gibson without playing and inspecting it first.

OLP is not made by EBMM.
