I saw your thread title and immediately had an answer but then I read your initial post and saw my answer was invalid.
My easy first choice would be the Stingray 5 HH with roundwounds I have now:
My easy second choice would have been a lined fretless Stingray 5 Hp. But if I really can't have that one (again, I'm using a smiley ) then I'd go with a fretted Stingray 5 Hp with flats.
EDIT - The original post in this thread was modified to allow fretlesses, so my second choice is what I originally stated - a lined fretless Stingray 5Hp. If it was a honeyburst with a tortise shell pickguard to match the one I have now, even better!
Well... because of the rules (no fretless) there's nothing really necessary after that one... but if I have to choose a second one it's really tough... candidates would be:
- StingRay 4 HS (to cover the single coil sounds)
- 2006 StingRay 30th Anniversary (for a big lower midrange and ringing harmonics)
- 1996 StingRay 20th Anniversary (for their very nice upper mid growl)
- 1993 StingRay 4 with 2 Band EQ, (for bridge with mutes and straight pull over saddles)
- Bongo 4 HH Stealth (something completely different)
Can't decide... would probably go for flexibility and take the StingRay 4 HS or play save and take
2.) a classic StingRay 4 H (how boring... I'm disappointed in myself)
BTW, also interesting is that if I could only have one or two, I'd go for more classic colour choices like black and white instead of Desert Gold and Lava Pearl...
