black/maple if u like the classic look. go for a slo special if you want a thinner neck. i'm also a single bucker guy but make sure you try a double before you decide. you dont want to end up how i was a few months ago when i was gasing for one because i didnt play it enough at GC before i chose my stealth slo.

+1 This is basicaly what I did, and it's working out amazingly for me.

Chuck B. it looks like you have a few String Rays...very nice
Yes indeed, I'm down to three Rays now. Had Fenders too, still have a Tokai Jazz, a Lakland Skyline Bob Glaub, Duesenberg etc. but when I take any bass to band practice you can be sure that I'll take a Ray with me the next time.

Man there are some many to choose from, I way always under the impression there was 1 Sting Ray, 1 Sterling and 1 Bondo and 1 Big Al................but that is so far from the truth, you have Stering 4&5, SB14, SUB, Ray35, Ray34, Sting Rays,Classic Sting Ray 4&5, Slo, So far I've only played a hand full.....still looking

Check out the 30th for sale in classifieds - birdeye maple neck, under a red stain of course, and a killer price. I was going to sell mine to get a Classic, but after playing it yesterday, I'll sell other crap instead. The 30th is just too sweet!

I'm currently DYING to get my hands on an 80s SR4 3 band with a rosewood board. I used to have a mid-eighties SR4 with a maple board that I sold to pay the bills back in '98. It is one of the biggest regrets of my life! I cannot find a 80's Sting Ray anywhere and it's killing me. I personally think those are the best sounding Sting Rays out there. If any of you in the know could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it!

Also, if anybody thinks there are other year/model Sting Rays out there, please post your opinions or comparisons. Thanks!
