For bailing out of an Ebay auction on a SUB1 HH hardtail last night.....
It was mine with 7mins to go for £161.00, my opponent came back at £166.00, I dithered had a bit of a 'Well do I really need\ can I justify another Ball' and there it was gone !

£166.00 ?, I sold a used, CHINESE made OLP MM4 for only £40.00 less than that last year....

That's less than the cost of a refret...

I'm so so hacked off at myself:mad:

The question surely shouldn't have been 'Can I justify another Ball ?'
But instead 'How can I miss out on a proper American made EBMM for such a bargain price?'

I'm sorry I know, I've let you all down, I've let the team down, but worst of all,
I've let myself down.

I'll go and stand in the corner now and think about what I've done...:(

Sorry about the sub....

Hey BOB, does your AL have a trem?

Brent, er no My AL is a hardtail, I think (although I may be wrong) that all the early pinkburst AL's are hardtail,
It's maybe a question for the Aussie AL overlord, Robelinda.

It's actually funny that you should ask because at the moment I'm having a go at starting a dodgy Pink Floyd tribute band and much as the AL nails the Gilmour tone as well if not better than anything Fender currently make ,there is a fair bit of tremolo wobbling going on on some of the tracks so a tremolo would be handy.

Why do you ask Brent ? Are you looking to think Pink ?

See I was really after getting a SUB1 with a trem for supercheap and sticking a Silo Spec SSS plate on it as a back up to give me that sound but with tremolo..

why don't you use a whammy pedal ?

Shhh you fool !!! If I do that I won't have an excuse to buy another guitar :D

And also I haven't checked prices lately, but I think If I can get a SUB1 w/trem for less than £200 It's actually cheaper than buying a Digitech Whammy...

Whammy pedals are a lot of fun though, I tend to end up doing bad Tom Morello impersonations until the shop assistant gets a nervous twitch on.

So here's an interesting update.

I just got an EBAY 2nd chance offer on another SUB1 HH Graphite Hardtail that I missed out on last week.

The winning bidder has crapped out and apprently it's mine for £200 inc postage if I want it, but truth be told I want one with a trem.

Argggh, what do I do now ?

IM RELUCTANT TO GO FOR SECOND CHANCE OFFERS. THERE IS SO MUCH PHISHING AND PHRAUD.....PHunny Heh?

Seriously be patient (love saying that to Dr.Bob)....

I have learned that either you E-Snype it or if its close use buy it now or but your max and forget about it until its over. I just got beat at the last minute on a very rare Alfa Romeo...Had it with 6 seconds to go and then the esnope program kicked in and I lost it for $100.00. THe logic is that even though I had thought that I had put in my highest bid I certainly would have tried one more time....Oh well

It's a good point BP,

Anyone got any insights into how I can tell if this (or for that matter any other) second chance offer is legit?
I'm still on the fence as to whether I'm going to do it. My favourite SUB 1 was always the White single HB trem model but I've never seen one of those come up used.....

Go back to the original listing and use "Ask seller a question" to ask him if he sent you a legit offer.

Since they stopped displaying bidders' names scams are fewer so it's probably fine, plus scammers go for bigger ticket items..

Try to pay by Paypal if poss, if he wants you to send a Western Union payment to 1 High Street London, just run!!

Not quite that simple though.

It always looks as though the other guy "just" beat you because that's the EBay system......when I lost out on an Axis the winning bid was $25 higher because that was the EBay increment....in fact he might have bid $1000 more than me, but EBay only neded to use $25 of it to outbid me.

Maybe it's designed to make you keep bidding next time.

Hey Andy....DUH I absolutely know that. My point is still put in the highest you feel like paying, use buy it now or Espype. The only one that nearly guarantees it is Buy it now. I loved the cowboy days of last hour of bidding

So I'm currently wrestling with the very odd spectre of BP in the Dustin Hoffman role in The Graduate.
Running down the steps of the church with Anne Bancrofts daughter jumping into the red cuttlebone tail Alfa Spider and like Bungo said, having it not start.

Actually on reflection, if it was BP he'd be making off with Ane Bancroft AND her daughter, laughing like a Bond villan all the way.

S'funny though I thought BP would be all about the hot rods rather than the esoteric fragile Italian stuff..
