I can only speak to the neck issue. I have a Ray [FL4] and it feels so very "just right" even though I generally don't like beefy necks. There's just something comfortable, and I'm not nostalgic or sentimental for old school basses. I enjoy some pretty modern and weird basses as well.

I acquired a Sabre, which I believe is the same neck as the Sterling, or very close. I really like that neck. I'm still into skinny necks. But no one should write off the Ray4 without trying it, just because they rejected other beefy neck basses. Maybe it's the FB radius, not as extreme as some fat neck re-issue stuff I've seen from the usual suspects.

Anyway, these two have very different necks, yet both are very comfortable. Since neither is a Sterling, and both have a Basslines PU, I won't comment on tone here.

The Stingray neck is one of the few that I can make the switch to from the very-comfortable Bongo pretty easily; a bit beefier radius, but very do-able.

For those with smaller hands than mine (med's), the Sterling neck may be the ticket.

Man knows what hes talking about ;)

I like every EBMM bass.. im sure in my future i will have one of everything. Bongos are my least favorite, but ill have one eventually. Theyre growing on me. Single humbucker with a piezo sounds good..

I see that you have a Sr5... that is basically the Sterling sound though, no?
Does your SR5 sound noticeable different than your Sr4?
I played a Sterling once at the GC in Albany, NY. That was my one & only experience with the Sterling, so I can't really compare the SR5's sound with the Sterling's sound. However, I do notice a significant difference in the tone between my SR5 & SR4. The SR5 is much more mellow while the SR4 is much brighter & "snappier." After playing the SR5 for a while & then switching to the SR4, the brightness of the SR4 is almost too much for me! :D

I have my 100 or so Basses and she has the 6 Bedroom House. So the bad part about the Sterling is, too bad there wasn't some sort of Good Looking Chick Insurance, lol

Hmmm, OK since YOU asked...mine was a Playboy bunny in the late 70's. She has since been a legal admin and now has an admin position with a large insurance company.

You "collectors" are like the car "collectors" who brag and tell all their friends how much they bought and sold for. Kind of pathetic...but I guess you can't really "drive" that much.
