Can we talk more about the basses and less about the name?
I want to know what woods are used on the basses and an estimate street price, the 5er looks really good IMO.

Boris...all well and good and if you want to start a thread...go for it. I already said that and now you post your hurt customer response. I avoid the threads that I know will =get me fired up. Im a slow learner but I figured that out. Have at it. Just stop it here.

To say that I dont want or need or dont listen is not fair. TO say that I dont involve my customers for input is not fair also. But you also have to ba able to listen too. Ive said in both threads that it is a done deal for many reasons. I asked nicely at first and then not so nicely and then you called our decision dumb. Does having three basses entitle you to call me dumb or my decisions dumb? Does it entitle you to hijack a thread even after I address fully your concerns? Are you going to stop recommending our stuff because I went with GUitar Center and not your marketing strategy?
But now you play the hurt abused customer card Thats not fair. Post a thread about it.

The funniest thing is that I agree....I think the name sucks. I listened to the customer that pays me the most money and the team here.

Is it possible in 2009 that I can asked that a thread stay on topic and that when we need advice that we will ask for it? Also please dont ever call ANYONE decisions dumb because you dont agree with them.

I wish I thought I could go back and edit and clean up this thread, but I fear the BS has overpowered the common sense. BP has had to respond numerous times to this branding issue and Azzy put it better than I ever could.

But the Evil Bovine Overlord moderator is back on the job (oh, how I miss Peru) and any further complaints or second-guessing about a done deal will be summarily and happily deleted.

Let's focus on the important things, shall we? (And stop giving the boss heartburn about showing us stuff no one else has seen, for God's sake.)

I suspect that once these begin to filter into the system and players start taking delivery, we're going to see more and more people participating on the forum. Hopefully, we'll see fewer intro-to-mid-level customers being tempted by the junk they sell at Walmart and more people getting actual instruments that can be adjusted, set up, played and rocked. (My apologies to Sam Walton here.)

I can't wait to see these at Guitar Center.

Please note that I was not the poster who called any decision dumb. I just made a statement about the name issue and explained my reasoning. You are referring to another poster. I agree that the discussions should be kept civil and free from "dumb" thoughtless language. Nor am I a hurt customer. I was just making a point that there's obviously value in feedback that both supports certain decisions or even questions them. My thoughts would be the same whether I saw the new line on this forum or walked into GC and saw the new line for the first time. You, of course, don't "owe" us a sneak peak or even the reasoning behind your decisions. Not even if we each own 10 Music Man Sterlings (or Sterling by Music Man ). And I don't think the name sucks. I actually think it would be cool (despite GC's input) if I didn't own Sterling basses. If I was a Stingray user, I wouldn't care. That's it. I've got nothing more the say on this issue.

You think that there is value in feedback....Ive said its not welcome and now its your third post with your entitlement and judgement.

Please pretend that you in my shoes and I will do the same. Your host has asked you to keep this on topic. He didnt ask for input. Told you that it was counterproductive to HIS thread . Told you to start your own. THree times

I really like the admitted selfcenteredness...."If I played a Sting Ray I d like the name" I didnt know I was selling collectables. I thought it was a bass.

Guess what Boris. The thread is locked. Thanks. Future Sterling By Music Man will be available from the sterling by music man webiste...its going to launch soon. THere isnt a forum there.

This really gets to the bottom of the entitlement. Boris thinks that his input should be heard and thinks its a good idea and necessary. I didnt. I then get the "I own three basses so I should be allowed to say whatever I want" I get the " I refer people" threat. This is very near to the underlying feeling implied everytime someone disagrees. "We are your marketing, you should listen to us" The old "the forum is a cheap marketing stunt by Poppa".....Guess what? We make about 14,000 instruments a year and the forum is responsible for 250 of them MAX. I am here seven days a week answering questions and showing you all I can show. Do you guys think my life would change if I didn't participate? I could show tax returns before and after I started here...

I do it because there is some value but because I love what we do here at ebmm and I really enjoy the interaction between most here. This may seem like Im blowing this out of proprtion but what this is is the SPider that broke the Poppa's back. I am not saying this to get support and stir up the fanboy rally...I just cannot believe the selfimportance and entitlement.
