Hi folks! Our own Spud was extremely gracious in hosting this one for me as a test. I just sent him another seven, so you'll have lots more ops to drool. Sorry about the picture quality; we just grabbed the store camera on a sunny day (there's clouds in that sky Virginia). This axe looks so much better in person it's scary. Everyone who sees it wants to buy it. My initial post pages ago had some of my reactions to it, and I have lots more now, but this poor girl (her name is Allison, ALLE, get it?) is still (gasp!) a drum virgin. She's seen lots of play, but not with a drummer yet! I think the best reaction so far was at a rehearsal last week, my guitarist (the astonishing Mark Thackway) gave it the ultimate seal of approval. Mark is the kind of guy that if it doesn't say Fender on it somewhere, it's only OK. He played her for awhile, then calmly announced "I gotta get me one of these". I gave him the bad news about the Limited thing, but he took the positive and started thinking good thoughts about maple fretboards. Another Albert sale...
I've modded her a bit. The Q-Parts gold knobs with the ebony tops were an obvious must-have. I also put a Stellartone Tonestyler sytem in, which works amazingly with the P90s. Next is a Tremol-no to lockup the bridge for them tasty triple bends. Now if I could just wangle getting Albert himself to sign my backplate like he did on my Silhouette Special...gold pen of course.
What I really love is how well this guitar integrates into my rig. I EQ/gainstage for my Silhouette with WCR SRs (Stella Blue), then just by switching to Allison for the louder tunes I get well, MORE of everything. Notes are bigger, and the word that keeps popping-up is ROUND, esp. the neck pickup. The bridge pickup with the Stellartone knocked-down a few clicks IS rock 'n' roll. Middle+bridge is a rhythm players wet dream. In terms of playability, you all know what I'm talking about; it's the reason we buy Musicmans.
Standby for more pics...-Eric

Still haven't figured-out why an expensive guitar still ships with the same knobs a hundred-buck Chinese Strat comes with...-Eric

It helps keep the costs down. Plus, everybody likes different knobs, and those of us who like to customize - well, if the guitar is cheaper initially, we're more likely to mod it. AND, you'll never find a fancy knob that all people like, so give 'em the cheaper ones and let them change them themselves. My opinion, anyways.

I've received more photos from Lance R (Eric) and I'm cropping them and hosting them on photobucket.

I like what eric says about the Stellartone and I'm going to have to look into that as a "pimp" for mine.

Funny how Eric calls his Guitar Allison - that's my wife's name awhhhhhh!

I'll be posting more photos on a separate thread a bit later.
Later Spud
