Hi Guys,
I'm about to buy my first MM guitar, as I wanted to try it for some time and I almost fell in love with a used one. Could you please be so kind and help me with confirming it's authenticity, as I'm a complete noob when it comes to MusicMans. :)
My mine concern is the headstock - usually I've seen compensated nuts and 'Made In San Luis Obispo California' text parallel to the whole neck. Maybe it is that way now, because the guitar I'm interested in is from 1999. Serial number is 608023, and below please find some picutres of the headstock and rest of the guitar:

No compensated nuts on the Axis Sport as they lived before the compensated nut existed or was implemented by EBMM. That looks legit to me and I'd snag it if I were you. I love my sport and that is an awesome looking blue that appears to be in great shape for a 17 year old guitar. Plus there is something about the era of Music Man guitars when they recessed the neck plates.

That looks correct to me, I had a Sport for a few years and it was a great guitar.

Compensated nut arrived on guitars in 2005 on the LE Buttercream package. It made its initial debut with the introduction of the Bongo bass, then eventually became standard on all guitars and basses circa 2006 .

That looks to be in awesome shape, snag it you'll love it. Axis Sports are the runts of the litter, just simple and great guitars, I've had 3 in the past.
