So after a bunch of real quality time with my new Bongo 5H (which lives at the band space), I just put some new strings on my mainstay 5 HHp (which is hanging at home) and have been playing it a lot today, laying down da funk on some Tower of Power songs my band is going to pick up.

Dayumm, I love this bass.

Even after more than three years, I love this bass.

Everything about Bongos is good.

Everything.

Everytime I pick up my Dargie or the SmallEq, both just sing to me. To me the SR is home but the Bongo is that mistress I can't give up.

I'm monogamous by nature.

I had to think long and hard about buying a second fretted bass of any description. I was seriously concerned that one of them would wind up in the closet, forgotten and unplayed.

I'm not emotional about mere objects, but I do object to waste. I'm not a collector; I buy things so I can use them. If I don't use them, I shouldn't own them. It's just the way I look at the world.

Having said that, I'm really good a cooking up reasons why I "need" to own stuff... in this case, it's so I don't have to cart my HHp back and forth every week. That's weak to be sure, but the basic principle applies.

I'm really happy to say that I'm going to play both of these basses a lot.
