Hey BP, I just want to thank you for all you do! You make great instruments and I believe you do care about the customers. If I was in a financial situation where I could order one, I would unfortunately, I am not right now but there are still plenty of MM basses I hope to have in my future!

It's okay, I'm preparing a Cliff Notes version for you.

I'll try....

haters: We want 19mm!!!
fanboys: 17.5mm is all you need!!!

mild bickering follows....

Cut and paste from EBMM forum...

Sterling will do a run if we get 125 orders.

Disbelief, it's a trap, I'm in!! setup for failure. Sterling's telling you to put up or shut up. More mulling

100-200 posts follow...

Hmmm, maybe he's serious.

You can't tell the difference. Yes you can. No you can't.

I can do it in 1 hour with a chisel.

Egg farts smell bad.

Ok, let's get the word out.

I want fretless. I want blue.

Black and maple!! FTW!!

When does it go live?

Tuesday.

What's the price going to be?

$2400? $1700?

(Basically it's accepted as legit, the go live date is known, now there is just speculation on the price.)

Note - I'm grossly paraphrasing with some humor intended. Please don't read too much into it.

Im so glad there is some humor coming out of this...Randy Jackson met all the enigineers that I should fire and he stood up and applauded after we showed him what we are up to....I didnt eve have to use the 19mm ace card!

serioulsy can you imagine in this economy that you would just suggest that someone lose their job? Fired by internet.

I wish more would understand that making basses in america is hard.

But I love the cliff notes and I thank all the TBers that have engaged...Good conversation

This was said by a TB member after it was announced that 19mm spacing was being offered and people began complaining about how it was being done.

I hear that Sterling offered a solid gold Stingray once, but people complained that it was too heavy and the finish too shiny.

Couldn't agree more.

Loved your post - v funny - I'm probably taking this too seriously.................just a mild correction.

I think us fanboys (or EBMM enthusiasts or just EBMM bass users) prefer 17.5 mm - what anyone else prefers is entirely up to them up to them.

Thank the lord for people like Sterling Ball that can fill this apparently insatiable demand for a widened 5 string spacing so quickly ;) :p

Hey guys, another TBer here. I'll admit, I was on of the initial group who thought maybe this was setup to fail, but after I thought about it more and found out that there was actually a 3 week period to get the funds, I have changed my mind a bit. The price issue is still unresolved over there though, and it seems here as well. I'm not sure if I'll be able to afford one in the next two and a half weeks as I'm purchasing a home and my funds are pretty well tied up right now, but I have considered selling one of my favorite basses to afford one of these.

BP, should we expect MSRP on these or normal dealer prices?

If it's normal dealer prices, I will definitely have a tough decision on my hands.

Confusion over the price......Maybe if people read threads instead of attacking...

here is a cut and paste from my original offer

"Same retail as the SR5."

To clarify, "MSRP" retail? "Actually buy one at GC" retail?

Thanks!

I think that was too difficult for a few guys, BP. "Retail? We have to pay full MSRP for it? That's not fair!" And then the rest of the villagers grab their pitchforks and torches and head up to Castle Ernie to roust the evil scientist.

I believe, and I am no genius here, nor do I have many superpowers left after the unfortunate event with the frozen scampi and the Gypsy prostitutes, that the nearly mythical 19mm Pasty-Faced-Dweeb SR5 will cost about the same as any other SR5 ordered through Shopatron.

Of course, for years I thought Shopatron was an alien robot, so go figure.

Google MSRP

Please..I am going to just stop trying to convince, explain or whatever...what part of wait until tuesday for the details are we missing....I guess its another evil trap....Once again I said it would be the same msrp...I said the details and ordering window would be up tuesday. There is MSRP That is the price I set...then there is the street price and that is the actual selling price by the dealer.
You guys really need to stop acccusing me of evil things....

Wow, sorry for trying to clarify an important part of the equation here for those of us who honestly were considering buying one of these. My mistake...

Hows this...WE keep saying Tuesday it will be up with all the details....I havent hid anything from anyone. Also if you are going to stop posting Im sorry but a formal announcement isnt really necessary. Im not firing my engineers, hiding the price from you or anything like that....I hope that you guys get your basses.
